Default M&P 9 sights adjustment or removal

Good afternoon. My wife has bought a M&P 9mm.Upon testing it is shooting low & left by about 1 foot at 25 yards.I also tested it with a similar error but about 6 inches.I attempted to drift the front sight with a drift & small hammer to no avail,it wont move.We have decided to fit a high viz fibre optic sight to the front as I have used them with great success. Can anyone recomend a tool & from where,to remove & replace the front sight,I have looked at the Brownells catalogue but they dont seem to have anything for this model. Also how do I adjust elevation,by about 12 inches at 25 yards?I live in Europe & many shops/dealers in the U.S will not export anything allthough I have had no problems with Brownells.
Thanks for your time.

S&W installs them with a hydraulic press (both front and rear) and they are nearly impossible to move, which is how it should be. Send it back to S&W and get the job done right. Send them the new sights you want installed.

If you insist on doing it yourself(?) follow the link to this company. But, as was said above, without the proper tooling you'll do more damage than good?

BROWNELLS : Brownells Search : Search Results for "sight adjusting tools" - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools

Has the pistol been fired by anyone else besides your Wife and yourself? The reason I ask, is because quite often on a new gun folks will tend to push the muzzle downward in anticipation of the shot firing. Before adjusting your sights I'd suggest a third person of a known good quality of shooter fire it off of the bench, to see if his/her shots are landing where both of yours currently are. If not, a sight adjustment wouldn't be indicated.
BTW WELCOME!
And please tell us how you proceed!

Check your shooting skills. This is a really common occurrence with new-to-this-gun shooters. I don't think fixing the sights is going to change anything. Just mess up shooting skills.

There have been countless reports on the M&P Forum saying the same thing. The gun shoots low/left. Most all were corrected by shooting practice and becoming familiar with the new gun. One thing you could check is to make sure your front sight is centered on the slide. Mine was about 1/8th of an inch to the right and it WAS shooting left. The sights will move but the slide needs to be mounted in a solid vise and struck on the base with a brass punch. Caution when removing the rear sight...there is a cap and spring under the rear sight that operates the firing pin safety. Once the sight is loose, put the slide in a plastic sandwich bag to remove it the rest of the way. The sights are removed from left to right and installed in the reverse.

Place the gun on a solid rest or sandbags, then see where the weapons point of inpact is. You never want to set the sights by hand holding it. You might remember the M&P series is designed as a defensive weapon not a long range target pistol. Mind you I am not saying they will not shoot accurately out to 25 yards, mine does but does its best when mounted on a solid rest not my hands.

Thank you for all your imput people. The frontsight does appear to the naked eye to be off centre to the right (looking from rear to front) which could explain windage problem.I have ordered a new tool from Brownells which I am assured will be able to move / remove front sight. Thanks for warning about rear sight.I will keep you informed.Any further suggestions about elevation adjustment apart from living with it? Thanks again

If you do in fact determine that the elevation needs to be adjusted, there are many aftermarket front sights of varying sizes, so you should be able to find a slightly shorter front sight. Personally, I use a Crimson Trace laser...the bullet always goes where the red dot glows..has made my 9c a tack driver.
