My New M&P10 with Enhancements!
Just wanting to talk about my M&P10 and post some pics of the beautiful gun! Thanks for looking and if you have any advice, questions, or comments, don't hesitate on it! Pics coming later just wanted to start thread.
The gun comes with a booklet entitled "M&P®10 ACCESSORY BOOK" that lists the accessories made by other manufacturers that will currently fit on the gun.
Apex Handguard, Advanced Technology International, Bushnell, Fusion Ammunition, HI-VIZ Shooting Systems, Leapers, INC., Magpul, Nikon, Viking Tactics, Weaver, XS Sight Systems, Blackhawk!, Hornady Ammunition, and LaserMax are all the companies listed in the booklet.
I am sure there are others out there not listed; so just take my answers as a recommendation to the accessories that should fit.
Most even state "Drop-In Replacement." I know there were questions about the fitting of some accessories. If you'd like to know if it'll fit ask me and I'll look in the booklet; as I am unable to find pictures of the booklet anywhere on the net.
I get daily updates on thread so it might take a day or two for a response.
My next post will be pictures of the gun before enhancements were added and with out factory handguard and stock. With pictures of enhancements posted later this week. If you'd like to see anymore pictures just let me know!
Thanks for Looking!

Some Pictures of the Finished Gun! (kind of)
Complete Gun w/ Standard 10rd Magazine but w/o Front Sight (Troy Industries M4 Tritium Folding Sight)
Magpul STR Stock (love the storage for my SR123 batteries)
Troy Industries Pro Grade Sling Adapter w/ QD
Troy Industries Pro Grade Sling Adapter w/o QD
Troy Industries Dioptic Tritium Rear Sight
Magpul MIAD Grip (love the grip, didn't like the notch on the standard one. really tight fit - some sanding/filing might be needed)
Magpul 20rd 308 Magazine (I have three, love the light weight. weighs about the same as the standard 10rd magazine - both unloaded)
Magpul Mid-Length Handguard (had to bend heat shield a little wider) w/ AFG2 and Surefire Scout Weapon Light w/ Lever Mount
Magpul AFG2 (like the grip a lot, have tried other grips but like this one the most)
Magpul Illumination Mount
Surefire Scout Light w/ Lever Mount (bottom)
Surefire Scout Light w/ Lever Mount (top)
Yes, I am left handed if you were wondering why I switched the larger safety to the right side.
Weights will be posted when I receive my front sight.

I too am LH. My M&P 10 is like yours. Is the fire selector reversable?
The stock has been replaced with a Magpul ACS stock taken off an M&P 15, until another Magpul stock can be procured. The STR may suit me better than the ACS. The MIAD grip and the MOE handguard are definitely on my list. I am thinking of FDC instead of black.
I mounted an old Weaver V16 on it in a Leupold M4 mount. I have not shot it much, but the first 5 shot group at 100 yards, using a makeshift rest, was 1 3/4".
How does yours shoot?

@ Little Creek
Yea the Fire Selector is reversible, the instructions are on page 27 in the instruction manual. You have to disconnect the upper and lower, then unscrew the hex bolt just enough to move the pistol grip down about a 1/4". ( Try to make sure you don't loose the detent pin or springs!) You will then be able to unscrew the hex bolt holding the selector in place; then switch the sides. I like the longer on the right.
Yea I like the STR a lot because it makes your cheek compress a lot...giving you a more solid feel....
As for shooting it, my front sight has yet to come in and Troy Ind. isn't giving me an ETA either.

Troy BattleRail
Troy BattleSight on the Way! Should arrive Thursday.
Also, I am not liking the fit of the Magpul mid-length hand guard. I think I want a free-floating handguard.
I have looked at the Troy Battlerail TRX-308 13.8" (DPMS) and was wondering what people thought about it? If anyone had it on their gun? I like the handguard because it extends the top rail and has a smooth surface
I know I would need to get a low profile gas block.

Could someone measure for me, as my weapon is on pre-order and I'm trying to place an order for my free-floater, the distance between from where the upper mates to the lower to the top of the rail? I am concerned as to whether or not this is the same lower rail that DMPS is now using or if it is the standard elevation that they had a couple years ago, which also matched the elevation of the other 308 ARs. Curious as to if it is a 2" or a 2-1/16" measurement. Is this high profile or low profile?

Ok, so I contacted Apex Machining (the one you see advertised in the booklet that comes with our rifles). They told me that our receiver is the size of the post-2009 DPMS style receivers which is Low Profile.
Per what S&W told me last night, the barrel centerline to rail height measurement is 1.259" and, per Apex Machinging
"August 2009 DPMS changed the height of the top rail on the LR308 upper receiver. To properly match your LR308 upper receiver rail to the full length Apex top rail, determine your rifle's manufacture date.
The distance from the barrel's centerline to the top of the receiver rail on a pre-August 2009 model is 1.313''. On a post August 2009 model the distance is 1.253''."
Furthermore, the gas block rail to barrel centerline is exactly 1.25".
I believe it is LOW PROFILE. I don't think with our receivers you can simply measure the thickness of the top-most part of the rail.

I measure 2" exactly for the total height of our upper receivers.

@CAL.M&P10
I will not be putting on a bipod at this time. I have a Harris bipod on my FNAR 20". I might end up trying it out on the M&P10, but right now it is not in the cards.

Hey, I have a question to everyone, how long is the hand rail itself? What's out there to just replace the stock hand rail with a quad rail? BTW, you did some nice mods to it already. Are you done with your mods?

@koka
I just measured the standard handguard and it measures 8 5/8". The Magpul handguard is the mid length model - so I assume all mid length models will fit? You will more than likely have to do some mods (i.e. cutting / bending the heat shield) to the magpul if you go that route.
Also, I am not done with the mods. I have yet to shoot the gun but the trigger is weak on the dry fires. I am looking at the VTAC Super V Trigger, if it does not getting better or I feel more comfortable with it while shooting.
I also will be getting rid of the Magpul handguard and replacing it with a Troy TRX-308 13.8" and replacing the standard gas block with a Troy Low-Profile Gas Block .750.
Later on I might get optics? Trijicon ACOG w/RMR? or Leupold HAMR? or something else? I do not want to much magnification if I do place optics on the gun. That's what my FNAR is set up for when my Trijicon Accupoint 5-20x50 arrives.
Thanks for looking!
*On another note, a sad note, I will not be able to shoot the gun this weekend. I am going out of town; but hopefully and I mean hopefully, I'll be able to shoot it at the farm next week!

For what it is worth. I have the SSA trigger on my M4gery. The specs are the same as the VTAC trigger. The SSA trigger is great. Just take up the slack and press a little more and boom. The SSA trigger will save you some $. I have a Leupold Mark AR Mod one 1.5 x 4 with the green dot and the SPR reticle in a Leupold one piece mount. This is a great scope for the money and it works great on my DDM4V7lw.

In one of your pics, it looks like the delta ring doesn't fit right on the magpul handguard. In another, it looks ok. Is there a problem with the fitment there? Also, how much cutting and bending of the heat shield are we talking about? Could you please post a pic of your modification? Thanks.

Just ordered the LE version yesterday (Product SKU 311308). Could not pass up the chance to finally get one of these. It will be a nice addition to the collection.

Weather not permitting sighting in sights. But was able to take a picture of it.
Here in NC the weather did not permit shooting of the rifle. I did take a picture of it with the 13.8" Troy TRX-308 handguard (low profile).
I will post more pictures later of the gun. If you have any questions or would like to know / see more about the gun just let me know.

Looks great, wondering why you put iron sights on it vs a scope though? Is there any particular reason? I just put a set of irons on mine and am having a hard time bringing myself to buy a scope now that I can actually use the gun.

First post. Quality of the rifle is excellent. Mounted a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50mm F1 on a LaRue QD mount, zeroed the scope at 200 meters. Rifle was able to deliver sub-moa groups shooting paper at 200 meters. Using a range bag as a rest, hitting a sniper target at 400 and 500+ meters was not difficult. Only modifications I will be making are a new stock (71 rounds left my shoulder slightly bruised with the factory stock) and a full-length free-floating hand-guard to mount a bipod on. Very impressed with the accuracy and consistency.

Are you sure it is a free float? All the pictures look like a simple replacement for the original handguards.

GaHonda, I found three and purchased my first mags threw gunbrokers.com from a seller rothm41 for 105.00 with shipping. Check him out he may have more. Be patient for your price, I have seen them for as high as 55.00 for one. Good luck

I finally bit the bullet and payed nearly twice the MSRP for a pair of them on Gunbroker.
With the high demand for AR15 mags from magpul, I just don't see the 20LR's becoming widely available for a while

Reminds me of a T-shirt I saw on the Mosin Nagant forum. printed on the front of the shirt......."wow" your rifle has a flashlight, mine killed a Nazi!

@Nframecollector
This gun is for the next generation of "nazis"...they rarely attack during the day.

Someone is manufacturing a polymer framed 1911 too! With a light rail! To each his own.......I like wood and steel! That's about as tactical as I get.

M&P-10 enhancements;
On my rifle I am now working with the stock, EARGO F93, it fits fine with just one hang up. The buffer, I am told by the smith that is doing the work, the buffer that came with the original stock is just a little short in the ERGO tube. Has anyone tried the ERGO F93 yet?
Also sitting on his bench is an Apex 15” hand guard, Sure Fire QD muzzle brake, I installed the ERGO Tactical Deluxe grip with palm shelf.
Once we think out this buffer question I’ll put up a photo.
