Has anyone installed a Geissele trigger in the M&P10? Any issues/ problems with fit? Thanks

Interested to hear results as the M&P10 is my first foray into the 7.62/.308 AR platform.

I have several Geissele's on other lowers... Definitely not cheap but they're proven and awesome IMHO.

NEWB here and waiting to learn...

Wondering this too, Ive read that the M&P10 lower takes an AR trigger. Maybe I'll get bored tonight and throw my knights 2 stage in and test fit it...

I could be wrong, but if the m&p10 is like the M&P15, same lowers different calibers, then the trigger switch is pretty much straight forward.

I looked up installation vids on YOUTUBE, found many.

Beware of a flying little spring (?) when you remove the original trigger. I think it was a spring, it went sproink when I was removing it and flew away so small and fast I really dont know what it is. hehe

enjoy! Youtube vids have been alot of help in builds and repairs.

I can confirm the Geissele ssa-e fits the m&p 10. I just installed one in my gun but haven't fired it yet. But it passes all of the "tests" in Geissele's instructions as far as dry firing, safety, etc. Dimensionally it's the same size as the factory trigger. Also, if you look in the little accessory catalog that comes with the gun, they list Geissele triggers in there.

Installation is not quite as straight forward as an ar-15 (I have one in my m&p 15 as well). For the m&p 10, you have to remove the bolt catch/release lever on the right side of the gun before you can install the hammer. It's just a simple roll pin that needs punched out and then the lever slips right out. Install the trigger and hammer according to Geissele's instructions, reinstall the bolt catch/release, and you're good to go. Again, I haven't fired the gun with the trigger but see no reason it won't function as it did with the factory trigger.

On an ammo note, I have only tried 168 grain SSA ammo, but have had no problems with it feeding from the magpul 20 rounder.

I have the SSA in mine - and have fired about 350 rounds with it since the install with zero issues.

HIGHLY recommended.

cheers

I'd like to install a Geiselle. Any tips on how to remove the bolt catch? It looks like the right side catch can really only be driven out from the rear; I assume with a 3/32nd punch. It would be nice just to be able to to tap the roll pin out enough to remove the catch, and then go back the other way, but I'm not sure if that is possible or well-advised. Is a lower receiver block, which fits in the magwell, necessary?
Thanks,

I did it without a reciever block. It was easier than I thought it was going to be. It punches out from the rear to the front and then installs from the rear to the front. The linkage for the bolt catch is very simple - no issues there either. All in all the whole process went pretty smooth when I did it.

cheers

I finally got around to installing my SSA-E.

(The trigger and disconnector have a slightly different design, and you cannot slide the hammer forward once you get the trigger in the receiver (even if it is unpinned) )

Kind of a PITA to remove that bolt catch.

I did not have a bench block but that would have been nice. I'm going to make a decent fitting one out of wood for this and the AR-15.

If you don't already have them, I suggest buying a set of Grace roll pin punches for $30 from midway.

Here's how I did mine:
  1. tap out the roll pin ONLY 3/4 of the way out (that holds the ambi bolt catch on the right side) hold.
  2. install trigger/hammer
  3. oil the roll pin for the bolt catch
  4. insert your punch back in the other side (from the rear), so that you line up the holes.
  5. use a standard flat blade screwdriver to carefully 'wedge' the rollpin back in the original hole. Take your time Mine actually went back in very easily. (used some slip 2000 EWL).

I used this method because
  1. I was under the impression that if i took that roll pin all the way out, it would be very difficult to get back in straight. The receiver is long enough lengthwise that my roll pin starter punches I bought for AR-15 would not have been long enought.
  2. When installing stuff like this, I like to put a punch in the other side (to line up all the holes, i also do this when installing triggers), and on the M&P10, there is no way to do that (because of the magwell

I ended up using roll pin punches to drive the ambi pin out, then a roll pin starter punch to get it going the same way.
Seemed to work fine. It was an extra step, but easier than I thought it would be. The trigger is great, and has spoiled me a bit.

Installed the SSA-E on my dining room table (shop was a mess) in about 20 minutes... Pretty straight forward... Makes a "WORLD" of difference in my accuracy and follow-up...

This is one of those "Must Haves"... for accurate long range... IMHO

Hi Guys ...

Just picked up my Magpul M&P10 and will probably only add a Surefire Brake, Badger Latch, and a Geissele Trigger ...

Appreciate the info on the right side bolt catch ...

I was curious if the safety had to be removed to get the Geissele in?

I have several Geissele Triggers in AR15 rifles and some go in without the safety removed and some do not ...

Thanks,
Tim

I finally found the following post:

Installing SSA-E Trigger and Grip (Detailed)

Great Stuff ... appears the safety does not need to be removed on the M&P10 in order to get the SSA-E in ... Nice

Just installed an SSA in my rifle, and removing the ambi bolt release pin was a piece of cake with a 3/32 punch and tiny mallet. The whole install took about 15 minutes. And the safety does not have to be removed to install the trigger.

Just a heads up. If you buy a National Match High-Speed from Rainier Arms (for retail and I've only seen them for $10 less in other places) they will give you all three spring sets for free. Choosing between the DMR and Match has been keeping me on the fence as Geissele themselves don't like to provide springs.

Default Yes!

Had gunsmith install it. Awesome trigger. Have AP Custom carbine length free float carbon handguard. Yesterday, at 200 yards, with bipod, Sierra Matchking 168gr, 10 shots. shots 3,4,5 and 7,8,9 were touching! Less than 1/2 MOA. Should have packed up and gone home. In the zone for 5 minutes.😱

Wish I'd have seen that a couple days ago. Paid the same to Geissele without the extra springs- and it probably would have been here today

Figured it out on my own. Once I got the bolt catch out of the way, the rest was a breeze.

Nothing against threads like this. It would have saved me some time if I had seen it first instead of trying to get the pieces in there with the bolt catch installed.

Anybody have any updates on the geissele ssa-e trigger for the m&p10 on how it's working? I ordered the SR Gold Trigger and it fit but the ambi bolt catch and safety didn't function properly..sending it back and getting the geissele.

Outside of doing a function check after install, I haven't had a chance to run it through it's paces. Everything seemed to work when I did the function check.

It comes with the springs already. I chose the 4.5 pound model since I want to use it more than just at the range.

I have 6300 rounds thru this rifle since installing the SSA-E and the trigger is better than ever... The "Stock Barrel" is having problems, but the trigger is as good as I've ever had and better than I ever expected...
