Default M&P 10 - Damage Industry Rails

please be kind with me on this...I'm new...

I purchased the Damage Industries rail for my M&P 10.

AR15/M16 1913 Rail Handguard Assy, Mid length | Damage Industries

I got the stock handguard off no problem. After that though, I'm a little confused how to proceed in getting the new rail on.

While I don't want to be too rough getting the rail in there, my attempts so far haven't been productive.

From the one picture that seems to be floating around of this rail on an M&P 10, I can't quite tell if the person removed the handguard cap.

Is there anyone out there that has put this rail on? Does the Handguard cap have to come off? Gas Block? Maybe the rail even goes over the cap? Step by step instructions would be very preferred.

When I purchased I was really under the impression it was going to be more of a drop-in type scenario. This may likely mean I'm making this harder than it needs to be.

Thank you for your help.

You answered your own question, I am pretty sure.
Most quad-rails tend to lock down over the delta ring at the front of the rifle, whereas a 2 piece drop in will lock in under the delta ring. It should be a pretty straightforward installation for you.

Default DI Hand Guard

I installed the same model hand guard (love it!) ... see attached.

I did need to loosen the Gas Block and adjust the hand guard end cap snugly OVER the new hand guard.

Verify the gas block is aligned correctly by running some compressed air up from the receiver end of the gas tube and verifying air flow out of the barrel.

Thank You Thank You!

I wasn't thrilled about having to loosen the gas block, but it wasn't so bad. I have everything as aligned as I can get it.

Rail looks excellent! Threw just a couple rail covers on it and am good to go.

Now, to find a bipod!

So with the Damage industry, what tools are required? I am still trying to decide which rail I want to go with. How heavy is the one from damage industry?
