It's easy to do. Brush paint over the stamping to fill the grooves. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes then use a very small amount thinner (mineral spirits, acetone, etc.) with a paper towel or Q tip to slowly pick up the paint on the surface until only the paint in the grooves is left over.

I think it looks great! Well done.
I've been thinking of doing this with my M&P15 Sport, but I was going to use paint sticks, but this is good to know it can be done with nail polish.

Was super easy. Did it while watching Monday Night Football and making Macho Nachos.

Did it do any permanent damage to the finish at all - even if minor color distortion after words when you were cleaning up with the polish remover?

It won't harm a thing so long as you use the acetone free finger nail polish remover.

Doesn't appear to have. A friend of mine has done this before and he made it clear to use acetone free nail polish remover.

Nice to know! Thanks for the reply back- last question - how long will this last before it starts flaking off, or is this more permanent and nothing to worry about. Im trying to decide if I want to use a permanent paint or nail polish. . Thanks again guys!

Good question. Not sure. I will update this. I got a new Nikon M-308 scope so I will be getting some more time with it shortly.

I used real paint. The acetone free remover got the majority of the paint around the lettering off but it left smudging around the actually lettering I filled in. Any recommendation for removing the smudging? The acetone is not doing the trick.

It is pretty easy. I used hobby paint. If i can give any advice, buy the non acetone finger nail polish remover for clean up, and WD40 scrubs off any other left over paint that the polish remover did not. If I can be any help let me know!
