Default help with mlock handguard

somebody.....anybody..... please help with some input on what are some of the best places/companies to get a mlock based handguard for my mp10. I also would like any recommendations on a scope also. I have always ran Nikon in the past but I am hearing a lot about this Vortex company, are they worth the money? or would I be better off sticking with a Nikon, burris , or something of that nature?

Midwest Industries makes a 12" and a 15" Mlock free floating hand guard that fit the M&P 10. I installed the 12" model, and I really like it. What you need is a DPMS-type low profile style hand guard. An Armalite-type, or a DPMS-type high profile style will not fit. There are other companies, such as UTG (their hand guards are made in the USA), as well. I am absolutely satisfied with my Midwest Industries.

In regards to scopes, there are many more choices. So many, in fact, it made my head spin. After much thought, I decided on the IOR Valdada 4-28x50 Recon. Here is what I like about this scope: variable power from 4x (close range) to 28x (long range, comfortably out to 600 yards and more). The 50mm objective lets in plenty of light. The scope is constructed with a 40mm tube (massive, rigid, and lots of range adjustability). It is a first, or front, focal plane (FFP), a feature that makes selecting holdover quick and easy. Parallax and diopter adjustments. The mechanical tracking of the turrets (imho the most critical criteria for a variable power scope) is 100% accurate, with mil adjustments matching the mil reticle. The glass is as good as it gets. IORs are known for their ruggedness. Good eye-relief. Overall length is 14", meaning it fits well on an AR. Here is a link to a youtube review:

For a fair price on this scope, check out SWFA. You can also find most competing scopes on their website, including the SWFA SuperSnipers (single and variable power).

I am a big fan of the midwest industries handguard. I think I am going to get one for my MP10 when I get the cash. I am also still considering SLR Rifleworks. They make MLOK handguards too and they have a "ultra-lightweight" series that has fewer rails. It's a bit pricier too though but since I am trying to save ounces as my primary concern, it might be worth the extra $. Solo Ultra Lite Series

For optics, I will say I have a Vortex 2.4-10x32mm and I love it, first Vortex scope I have but for the price it's an excellent value, only paid 400 for it and it has a lot of features you don't get with scopes twice this price. Also the lifetime warranty, just read a bit about the Vortex VIP warranty. It's just nice to have that peace of mind.

Thanks for the input guys. I really liked what I saw. I have been looking at some Seekins Precision handguards and I like the looks of those as well. I really liked that Solo Ultralight series too, though. im still not sure if Seekins makes one that will fit the mp 10. I noticed they had one that had a flat bottom, it looked super stable and really seems like it would feel good in your hand. Regardless tho, I really appreciate your advice and info on where to look. and that Recon scope is absolutely awesome!!!
I would love to have one of those bad boys.

You got a fantastic weapon. Might as well top it off with some fantastic glass!

Primary Arms is a great vendor. They carry most brands and throw stuff on sale all the time.

Vortex is a best buy scope.

They offer their own 4x14 FFP scope that is a budget steal! I could take one to 500 yds any day!

I'm stopping in at Diamondhead USA today or tomorrow and checking out their new handguards. They have multiple length free floating guards available for the M&P-10 as well as many other AR-10's. I use their handguards on most all of my AR-15's.. check em out...

I have heard really good things about Vortex. I have a Leupold. I'm a deer hunter so I went with them for their great light gathering.

As for the handguard I like the way the Magpul feels.

Just my $.02
