I'm shooting 168 grain Federal Gold Medal Match right now. At $27 a box (about $1.50 a round after tax) I can't shoot as much as I want to.

I am not interested in the cheapest ammo. I want to stock up on an accurate round that works in the M&P 10 specifically.

I have heard that there are some surplus or bulk 308 ammo that is very accurate. What has everyone used in their M&P 10 that gave the best performance?

Go to a local gun show. You may have local custom reloaders at a decent price.

Some place like Palmetto Armory may have some mil surp 150 from Federal, but? 150 is so so in these.

South African has been very accurate in all my semi auto rifles in 308. It's my first test ammo for accuracy. The S A ammo sets the baseline on what I can expect from a new rifle.

Back when it was easy to find, the Portuguese surplus was always very accurate in my rifles. The surplus DAG ammo with the "silver" bullets also shoots very well thru my HK91 / CETME / M1a / Armalite AR10t.

PPU ball is decent for the price, and their match version is very good, at about $10 less a box than Federal Gold Metal. PPU brass is also reloadable, and of very good quality.

Just purchased some Portuguese NATO milsurp (BF 79) in battle packs at a gun show. Private seller sold them @ 50 cents a round. Was informed by the M1A expert that it's pretty good stuff to use in that rifle, but it will also be tried in the MP-10 but I've not had the chance yet. Should have no problems. Also heard a lot of good about the South African.

A little of your time will get you quality ammunition at an affordable price. (assuming you can afford to buy cheap-stuff in the first place)

Perhaps the best "cheap" ammunition that I've found out there that has any real accuracy out there is Freedom Munitions reloads.

Nothing against bulk ammo. Hell, I buy it for range time and what not but I do not expect to get MOA or less accuracy from it. It was never meant to be that accurate in the first place. Bulk ammo, especially military surplus was meant for the average soldier where hitting the enemy in the center mass area was good enough.

You can get Hirt from several sources for around 54 cents delivered if you order a case of 960 or so. It is very accurate ammo.
You can also get the FGMMatch for a lot cheaper than the $27/box than you are paying from online sources. Around a buck a round if you are insistent upon that round.
There is some German DAG available currently that has been milled at the head to erase the headstamp. Don't go near it.
If you can get RG, Port or SA, it is also good stuff but I don't see it from the importers near as often anymore.
