Why can't I find a new M&P10 811308
I have been looking for an M&P10 model 811308 with the 20 round mag and adjustable stock for over six months. Every online and B&M store has been out-of-stock every time I look. The only ones I can find are the model 811310 compliant 10 round non-adjustable stock versions. Has S&W stopped making the 811308? I even called S&W and they just blew me off with a canned answer about they don't know when specific guns will be produced.
There also hard to find on Gunbroker. Lots of 811310 compliant versions but few if any 811308's
Seems odd to me. It's like they have stopped producing them. I keep kicking myself for missing the Grabagun $999 sale in early 2015.

I now what you mean, I bought one of the last ones offered on gunbroker several months ago, paid to much for it, it is really a good rifle. Buds Gun Shop , one of the largest in the nation, has had them on order for over 8 months. They told me they had 125 of them on order and had not had any response form S&W, they are a huge S&W dealer. Something seems to be wrong. ????

I've had one on back order for months thru Quantico Tactical. They can't even tell me went they might get any. Whats the deal with Smith? Thinking about trying for a armalite? Maybe a mod can tell us something?

Nothing wrong with Armalite but keep in mind the form factor isn't supported as much as the SR25/LR308 form factor. Great rifle, as long as you know up front you options will be more limited. It's a great option if you have an M1A or other rifle that uses the same magazines as well. That's one of the reasons I got my Mossberg MVP Patrol, it can use magazines from both.

You're behind the times. Armalite went back to making an AR10 that takes SR25 pattern magazines some time ago.
The previous model doesn't use standard M14 mags. It uses a modified M14 mag

I did not know that. What about the other proprietary parts? I can't remember what else was proprietary. Not to say the M&P10 doesn't have proprietary stuff.

I just got an 811308 about 2 weeks ago. I called my local dealer and he called his supplier. They had 1. So I grabbed it. $1350 out the door. Guess I got lucky.

I got lucky and caught the Grabagun deal at $999. I love mine and have never had an issue. Wonder why they aren't available anymore. Wouldn't mind a second one.

I got that same deal. Mine has been good. Only change I made was put a fixed A2 stock (I needed the length of pull) and a DPMS compensator. It now has no recoil to speak of and you can spot your shots through the scope after pulling the trigger.

Picked it up at a local gun store, now its NJ compliant but that's no problem. Pretty stiff price, about 1300, but at least its in my safe. missed one at Buds I was on the watch list for over a month but dragged it out too long and they were gone in about 4 hours

I hope they are changing their proprietary stuff. Though, probably not... Like everything else in this industry, things are made in batches. I just ordered the Mehpul edition AR-15 from Smith. We shall see how long that takes. Their turnover right now is kinda disconcerting.

Looks like the model 811308's are finally shipping. I picked one up from Grabagun this week. Now I need to figure out what bling to put on it.

Was at the Quantico in Killeen TX this last Sat. and they had them on the rack for $999 (if I remember correctly, could be wrong). I though that seemed like a pretty good price but haven't kept up on this model.

That is a pretty good price. Not many sell that low outside of a DPMS that I've seen. But the DPMS is a heavy *******.

Waiting 6 mos so far
I ordered a SM311314 on 8/9/2016. That's the Magpul version w/ Troy backup sights. After 3 mos I checked on the order and
was told that UPS had returned my rifle to S&W because it was damaged in shipment. All follow-ups got an out of stock reply. My order cost is $1295.00 and the MSRP for this configuration is $1795.00. Getting annoyed with S&W as everyone else seems to be.
