I just installed an omega suppressor on my MP 10 and i am having short cycling issues. I removed the magazine and it is covered with residue from what I believe is over gassing. I shoot Fiocchi game king 168 grain BTHP and never had any issues before attaching the suppressor. Can anyone help me sort this out? Do I need an adjustable gas block? If yes, what have you installed successfully with this rifle. I am really like to leave the rifle in its original configuration but i believe i may have to do some alteration or i just wasted $1000 on a suppressor.

You will need to open up the gas port to get more gas to the bolt to compensate for the increased back pressure created by the suppressor. There is a thread on the subject here concerning some M&P10s being under gassed for other issues.

You will probably want to get an adjustable gas block for when you aren't shooting with the can to prevent over gassing and causing the bolt to slam into the receiver. The issue you are seeing now is due to not enough gas getting to the bolt. An adjustable gas block can't increase supply that isn't already there. It can only reduce it.

The residue in the magazine is normal with a can. The only way to avoid that is to get a piston gun. Just the nature of the beast. You may notice in the future a little blow by from the ejection port as well and spent cases being dirtier than they were before because of the same reason.

A sound suppressor some what chokes the system and the gasses have to go some where.

I've never really seriously looked into one since my rifles have operated just fine and I've never run a suppressor myself, so I can't say. A mjor name brand should serve you well. Say a JP or YHM as an example. There are others out there. Keep in mind the direction they adjust. If you have a free float hand guard, access to the adjustment can be a problem depending on the orientation of the slots on the side. There are some blocks that adjust from the front if side access is limited, though I think those tend to be more spendy than side adjust blocks typically are.

I intend on using the original handguard. The orginal gas block is outside the handguard, I would assume the replacement low profile adjustable gas block will also be outside the handguard due to the length of the original gas tube.

Is this an issue or am I ok on my assumptions
