Default Handguard Question

Just bought an M&P10 (311308). It does not have battle sights on it. If I want to put a Magpul M-LOK SL mid-length handguard on it, will I need to buy a low-profile gas block?

If the above won't work, what other handguard options do I have? Thanks!

Looking how it's cut for an A2 front sight, I would say it should work. The only thing I'm not sure of is if a picatinny mounting front sight will fit in between the ears that jut forward. I think it would depend more on the mounting hardware for the sight than anything.

Thanks. I think I'm just going to go with an Troy or Apex handguard and low-profile gas block.

Post back with what you come up with, I'm in the market for an M&P10 or a DPMS G2 of some sort.

I've heard good things about the DPMS G2 Recon, but great things about the M&P10. I emailed a bunch of shops near me and found my M&P10 for $1400. Not sure if they had anymore. Another place had one for $1479 or so.

I like my APEX hand guard. I got a full length rail so I could mount a back up iron sight and I like the looks of a full length rail over one just big enough to mount the sight.
