Default Sep17 I'll Have new SW MP 10.

I had just purchase a new A-10 Law Enforcement 308. If i were to buy a suppressor, will i need to take my rifle to gun smith and have the barrel Re-threaded ?. Or the rifle is already threaded to take a suppressor ?.

Post suppressor

All I had to do was get a suppressor mount that was threaded for .308 and mount it to my M&P 10. No gunsmithing needed. The task was very easy to accomplish. Definitely a do it yourself project if you have the proper tools.

Hello Doc: I know this was a few years back, but do you remember the make and model of the suppressor? I am just starting to look for one and you're the first person I've asked. Many thanks in advance!

Most modern suppressors have adaptable ends so they can match whatever gun you mount too. 308 usually uses 5/8-20, and the 223 standard is 1/2-28. (Same as AR flash suppressors.) 9mm usually uses the 5/8 but 45's use something in 3/4".

My MAC-10 9mm suppressor was in 5/8"-11.25 tpi (probably something metric) but I had adapters built for 308 and 223 standard threads. (I used Muzzle Break blanks!)

8" long suppressors do fine for 223, but don't fully quiet 308,243, or the Creedmoor's! My suppressor is a two chamber, about 12" long and totally quiets 308 gasses. You still have a supersonic crack to deal with. When they say "Rated for 308", that means 308 won't blow it up!

I keep thinking of getting one for my 338 Lapua. The good ones are 24 to 30 inches long and 3 to 4 inches diameter. They sound like a 22 high velocity rifle being shot!.

Ivan
