I have a Nikon M-308 Nikoplex with the quick turn yardage turrents with Magpul MBUS on 45 degree mounts.
It depends on what you want to use the rifle for as to what you get. Short range, medium range, long range? That will make a difference on what you get. Figure that out first and then you and decide what optic you want. Each has their benefits and negatives so you need to focus on your primary use to best match what to get.

I'm using it for a short to medium range. I put a Primary Arms 1-8 ACSS on it. I ended up getting the M&P 10 Sport. Nice rifle. I might try out a PA Prism 5X on it also.

The 1-8 is a good match. You might find the 5X to be a bit strong for close range. If you are looking for something better, perhaps the platinum series 1-8 might be to your liking.
Based on the PA scopes I have, your current 1-8 should be fine though.

I had a PA 5X prism on my POF and I found out two things
1- I couldn’t get enough eye relief so I couldn’t get it sighted in.
2- There is much to like about the ACSS system, I found it much to busy for my taste. The actual target system is for a man walking and how to range. Just a little a little distracting .
I replaced it with a Vortex 1x8 Strike Eagle and I like it much better.

I have a Vortex Crossfire II 4x12-40mm on my AR-10 and I haven't got to the range yet. I think it will work as needed to hunt Deer in Arkansas where most shots are less than 200 yards. We have had a lot of wind and rain so getting to the range has been difficult.

I put a Burris Veracity 5-25x50mm on my M&P 10 6.5 CM. Love it! I was looking at the XTRII and a NightForce scope too but the price on the veracity was right.

Bushnell Banner 6-18x50. Older model made in Korea. Not the Chinese junk they put out nowadays.

Bushnell Nitro 4x16 - 44mm. 30mm one piece mount. I live about a mile from the Bushnell outlet store. Selecting one took a great deal of restraint. Almost got the Forge, but I liked the Nitro better for my needs.

The PA ACSS style reticles are fantastic! Although I don't have a S&W AR10, mine in 6.5 Creedmoor has the Apollo reticle. The ranging features are great.

I've had ELR shooters that have tried their scopes tell me to trust the reticule, it's more accurate than doing the math with ballistic charts and so on.

That's pretty amazing when you think about all of the engineering that went into the ACSS designs. Dimitri of Primary Arms continues to roll out great ACSS variants.

Nikon m308. I’ve used this on bolt guns very successfully and it works great on my m&p 10 .308 w/18” barrel flawlessly. My ‘10 only has a Limb saver on the stock (factory stock) and a Magpul front hand guard for mounting a bipod. Otherwise stock shoots like a dream. Just like my m&p 15 PSX (factory piston m&p 15) completely stock except aftermarket carrying handle and front sight (I’m an iron-sight Marine from the 80’s and using them brings back memories!)
