could you guys w/ reflex sights be kind enough to post some pics with the reflex mounted, along WITH the factory sights on there. I want to see the relative height between the two.

How do you like those rail inserts? i was initially thinking of a ladder, but I saw those the other day.

The Larue clips are great. They are easy on and off, low profile, solid, and match the rifle's finish well. And.... only $20. MaxiCooper originally posted them on his rifle here (I had never seen them before). I put them on my Bushmaster AR15 too.

One thing I discovered is that when the clips are installed on every-other slot (as pictured on side rail) they become perfect finger groves for grip.

The Sightmark (and all the others with different labels) co-witness perfectly. Mine has a much smaller than 5MOA dot (probably 2MOA) which is nice for shooting beyond 25-50 yards.

On the downside, the dot washes out in direct sunlight. The other rectiles are a bit more visible, like the cross, but still hardly visible in direct sunlight. I do most of my shooting under roof so it really isn't much of an issue. For those who mainly shoot in the open, I might consider something that has more of a hood on it. Or... for those who are more inventive than I... strap some PVC atop.

now if i could just get a vacuum setup to press carbon fibre..

Here's a BSA reflex dot. Dident have much faith in an el cheapo like the BSA but it has worked out very nicely, good cowitness out of the box and holds zero. The dot could be a bit brighter but it is ok, has green and red dots with a choice of reticules.

lol, yeah. BSA is funny like that. sometimes they make a decent product, other times, they blow.. i think this style of reflex are all pretty much manufactured by the same company, and rebranded for resale. i DID notice that the 'SightMark' has a lifetime guarantee for $50. its about 10-12$ more than the non guarantee'd ones, but i guess id have to see their customer service for that to be the deciding factor.
eitherway, itd be nice to get a quick-release thrown in, but i guess its not really needed.

They gotta all be made at the same Chinese labor camp. They're all identical other than the name. With the exception of flakey adjustments on them.... they hold up fine on .22s. I have read 'customer reviews' of these type products from folks complaining they don't hold up for more than a few rounds on their .45acp or .223..... well...... a big duh there. One of the reasons I like this .22 is that I can hang a bunch of inexpensive toys on it that would otherwise fall apart on a centerfire arm as quick as a M&P 15-22 ejector.... wooooops... did I say that?

I have a Surefire forearm with the rails @ 12, 3, 6, and 9 on my M4 A2 rifle that has the fixed carry handle. Is the picatinny railed forearm solid enough to mount a reflex sight?

Phil, I think you've got room for a toilet-paper holder on there somewhere! (wink, wink) I'm amazed at the amount of stuff you guys are hanging on these rifles. BTW: I was at Gander Mtn. today in Corsicana Texas and had the opportunity to handle the "Big 3" 22 AR-types from Colt (Heavy!!) Ruger (just another 10-22 but heavier) and the Smith. (Ahhh...lightness at last) I sure am glad I went with the 15-22 after playing around with the others. Where are you guys getting "tall" scope rings? I'm using a 3/4" riser with an el-cheapo Tasco red dot but the 5MOA dot is killing my groups! Mike in TX

I have a solution.... and it's mounted right between the toilet seat and flush handle on the top rail.

The tube-type red dot is a 5moa and mounted on a Tapco 3/4 inch composite riser. That's what I use for making cans jump around. It provides a more 'heads-up' position so I don't have to smush my face into the Magpul CTR stock. The Sightmark holosight has a much smaller dot (2moa I guess) which is useful for stationary targets at longer distances without covering up so much of the target (the issue you're describing) I use the Mako foregrip to keep things quick as well as steady. And just in case I forget where I had all this **** mounted I have Larue index clips positioned all over the rail to keep things in place.

ps. It all co-witnesses very nice. Really..... it does.
