Does Anyone Own an MP-15 MOE .223/5.56 NATO?
I have to tell you guys, I feel alone here. I own an MP-15 MOE in the .223 cal. It seems most everyone here has the .22 cal.
I know it's cheaper to shoot with the .22 LR. You can likely shoot all day for 5-10 bucks.
I'd like to hear from some of you guys with the Big Boy MP-15's LOL I love mine. Shoots great. I'll add a photo soon. I have a new camera coming and just sold my old ones on eBay.
Stay tuned.

I don't own a M&P 15 but do own 5.56 mm AR15's and IMO the M&P 15-22 is a useless toy, a lot of them seem to have problems and the mag design is terrible. No offense, I do believe the .22's have a use for economical training or small game hunting but to me it just makes more sense to have a rifle with defensive capability and a conversion upper. I have one flattop upper with a M16A1 barrel installed that I run with a Ciener .22 kit, the A1 barrel 1/12 twist is close enough to a .22 1/16 to have useful accuracy unlike a 1/7, 1/8 or 1/9. Sooner or later I will most likely pick up a dedicated Spike or CMMG 16" upper.

Well I own 2 ar-15s and 1 15-22... you can keep ur conversion kits.. that's exactly what I need is for 22 ammo to gum up my $1500 rifles so that when I need it to work it won't... I know cleanit after u use it it will be fine.. what happens if you need it and it has the 22 conversion in it... ill keep my secondary trainer and be happy... I've put upwards of 5000 rnds atleast threw it with no prob. It could blow up tomorrow but atleast its a 400 dollar gun that s&w will fix or replace... not 1 of my ars... not flaming or trying to come off as a know it all but I've enjoyed my little 15-22 and u can do the math on how much it has saved me in ammo

M&P 15T owner here! Love it! Zero issues or problems!
That's probably why you don't see much action on the forum unlike the M&P 15-22 issues. I own one of those too and it's been a pain in the rear!

I really like my 15T and there has not been a single problem with it other than EOTech and LaRue stuff is expensive.
My 15-22 is another matter.
So far it appears I'm 1 for 2 here but S&W has promised "it will be right when it gets back".
Lessee here:
1. I'm from the government and I'm here to help you!
2. The check is in the mail!
3. It will be right when it gets back!
4.
Any others that we can add on a family forum?
I really hope that it works well when it comes back. Honest!

I'm still a newbie with a S&W MP15 O/R 5.56 with Troy Flip-up Battlesights added. Pretty happy with it so far.
586L-Frame.
DLC’s S&W M&P 15 OR 5.56 w Troy Folding Battlesights.

I love everything M&P! My first was an M&P .40 FS pistol, then I couldn't resist getting a real AR so when I found an M&P 15OR at a show for a sweet price it went home with me!. Since then I've put a Leupold Mark AR 3-9X40 Mil Dot scope on it with Leupold Mark IV super high rings but I kept regretting that it didn't have irons on it so a couple of weeks ago I ordered the Troy battlesights direct from S&W. Now I just have to change my rings to give me the ability to quickly take the scope off or at least see through the rings. My next upgrade planned is to add a DD 1 o'clock offset base to the top rail with an Aimpoint H-1 for close range shooting. I've also added an M&P 15-22 to my collection and added a bunch of goodies to it including a Bushnell Trophy MP red dot. I've really got to learn how to post pictures!

Did you guys break in your barrels on your weapons? I have not gotten a clear answer from anybody on this forum does a 5.56 sw mp 15 need to have it's barrel broken in? Also does anybody have the mbus sight? If so does it zero like a traditional m16 sight where you zero at 25 and your good for 300?

I did not break in my barrel. I have no knowledge of whether or not it "needs" to be broken in, sorry.

I own an M&P 15T and an LMT. Both are great guns. After reading all the posts regarding some of the issues with the 15-22 I ordered a SIG 522. Haven't picked it up yet. Just decided today to have a Leupold AR 3-9 scope mounted on it.

And you won't find consensus on any other forum, as well. The old school shooters never did it and claim the idea is smoke and wishful thinking (hey--S&W's new catch phrase?). The newer proponents of the theory claim it will increase barrel life and accuracy by bazillions of rounds.
Me? I'm old and believe in the theory that lead and copper are a lot softer than steel and that cleaning regularly is a must as is quality ammunition. Maybe the 1,000 meter shooters on TV are the ones to ask-they deal w/ the earth's rotation, "bullet lift", and other issues.

I have a new DPMS Panther Sportical 5.56. The instruction book states specifically the kinds of ammo you can use and also that the barrel and chamber must be cleaned after each round up to ten shots. After that be cleaned every ten rounds up to 100 shots for break in and better accuracy,I haven't fired it yet.

I was quoted $950 for a new M&P 15 MOE yesterday. I am really thinking about saving up and getting one.

well it fit nicely and is very secure. I know it's not the MOE model that you guys are dying to see, but I'm sharing it anyhow. I still need to route the pressure switch but I am waiting for my AFG to arrive, and I'll ditch the bipod.
Ignore the low quality black berry camera.
Before:
Handguard removed:
The new stuff:
Quad rail installed:
Accessorized:

My lovely wife gave me one today for our 10th anniversary.
I like the flip-up rear sight, but I'm not so sure I like it being made of plastic. I might have to do something about that...

Does Anyone Own an MP-15 MOE .223/5.56 NATO?
I bought one several months ago for $999.00 and put a Eotech XPS2-1 on it. It is a great little rifle, have had zero problems with it.
