Default One bipod for two AR's

I need to pick up a bipod for the range. I'm not doing any comp shooting or going into battle but need something for the range tabletop. For the amount of time it'll be used I'd like to get one bipod for use with both guns...a M&P 15 and a 15-22. Any recommendations?

The 15-22 looks to be easy since it has a rail to mount the bipod. The M&P 15 is another story, it looks like it has a threaded hole under the gas block???

If the M&P 15 has a standard threaded sling stud hole in the gas block, then you should be able to use any bipod listed as "Stud mounted"

Harris comes to mind.. They are pricey but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better steel bipod.

This is the bottom of the AR-15:

I'll get a Harris if I can use it on both AR's, is it possible?

I guess I need a stud (for the M&P 15), a rail to stud (for the 15-22) and finally a Harris bipod?

I just bought a CAA bipod, model BPO. They make two different styles and the one I got has a bracket the legs attach to which mounts with a picatinny style mount so it goes on my 15-22 real easy and I also bought a short (2-3") picatinny rail that mounted to the bottom side of my handguard on my M&P 15OR (just like yours) which makes it "real" easy to put on the 15OR if that's where I need it. I purchased it direct from CAA by calling them but you can find it on many of the AR accessory websites. I really like the fit and finish of it. No external springs, the legs adjust height with the push of a button and can be removed from the bracket just as easily. Cost me a little over a hundred bucks but I thinks it worth it. You can always find the spring loaded pods that have an X pivoting action and just clamp onto the barrel for about twenty bucks too!

I can't say if there is enough room on that gas block to mount the Harris type and I won't say "yeah that'll work" and then have it not work. I'd like to hear from an owner who has done it. It's not so much of an issue on say a Remmy VTR where you have a typical rifle stock up front. And Scoreguy is right, there are many bi-pods out there. I just happen to think after using Harris types that they are some of the best on the market in my opinion. I like the way they look, I like the way they function and they are extremely well made. There are certainly many other options, some cheaper, some more expensive even.
