I am thinking about getting a M&P 15.
Which version is the best buy?
The 15 OR sounds good, but what about sights?
Price is an important issue in what to get.
If cost is an issue...you are right, the OR is one of the cheapest ways to go....but indeed, what about sights? If you want irons on there, you'll pay for those - if you want high qual ones like Troy or similar, you'll pay $200 for the set.
I had a similar quandry myself - in the end, I just decided to go for the M&p15T - because it was configured how I would probably have ultimately ended up doing a cheaper version myself anyway, and for less money.
It would seem odd to purchase an AR specifically made without sights and have a concern about sights for it....unless you want a specific brand of sight and simply don't want to purchase an AR with sights so they can be removed, tossed in a drawer, and replaced with another set.
I would recommend purchasing one of the M&P 15 models that come with sights if iron sights are important. Else, get the OR model and put a good optic on it, as intended....I did.
I opted for the OR. There was a pretty good deal in our town, came with a $100 rebate; I used that to get a set of Magpul sights and a spare magazine. So far, so good....
