Question Are S&W ARs made by Stag?

Scuttlebutt is that Stag actually suplies either complete rifles or major componants. Been hearing this from more and more sources. I doubt S&W makes all their own AR parts.
Can anyone positively confirm or deny?

I do know that Walther actually makes both the Colt and S&W branded AR-style .22 rimfire rifles.

To my knowledge, Stag Arms made only the initial run of S&W AR's with all following runs to date being made by Smith & Wesson themselves. This is a classic example of facts becoming warped after many retellings, I do believe.

According to one of the Smith reps Stag did supply receivers but no longer. I knew about Colt and Umarex but did not believe Umarex made the MP-15-22. Learn something new everyday.

Hang around gun people long enough and you will hear just about everything.

The gunshow 'experts' around here swear that saber industries makes receivers for "everybody" including Rock River and Colt.

Interesting topic that has engendered a lot of urban legends.

Could you direct me to a link for more information or a source for this, that is the first that I have heard this about the S&W MP15-22. In comparing both the S&W MP15-22 and the Colt M4 OPS, having owned both and I still have the MP15-22, I have never seen or heard that Walther makes the MP15-22. The S&W does not resemble any Walther made .22 that I have seen but the the Colt which is made by Ulmarex/Walther does have similar looking internals to the Walther G22 rifle. I have heard that the barrel on the MP15-22 is made by Thompson Center.

Don't know anything about the supposed Sabre Industries connection, but for what it is worth I have noticed that the uppers on my complete S&W MP15 AR and my complete Rock River AR 15 have the same forge mark, i.e., the keyhole/bell looking symbol on the right side of the rear part of the upper near the rail. The said forge mark being the same as the one on both a Bravo Company and a Rock River detachable carryhandle sight that I have as well. A DPMS rifle that I had for a while did not have this or any forge mark on the upper.

There is quite a lot of info on some of the AR related forums that deals with the forge marks and identifies the OEM's by the particular forge markings. I believe that there is a limited number of OEMs that make parts for several different AR Manufacturers maybe adjusting finishes and specs here and there as the particular manufacturer may dictate. The same is true of electronics and appliances as well. Of course there may be some AR manufacturers that do the complete product in house but I haven't seen any confirmed information of who that is.

Given that S&W bought T/C some time back, that would make sense. Unfortunately, the T/C barrel certainly doesn't yield the match grade accuracy one would expect (per the S&W web site). Several decades ago, I was shooting a 14" T/C chambered in .223. That handgun, with a 2x scope on it, produced 100 yd groups that were half the size of why my 15-22 does at 50 yds.
