Need Advice

I have an OR with 16" barrel. Tactical set up. There is nothing at the muzzle end. just crowned -no flash supressor or muzzle break. Lots of flame, noise. When i was shooting it today (55gr Fed Am Eagle 200 round packs) another club memeber who knows more about long guns came over and advised me to use ammo with a faster burning powder or get a longer barrel.
I like the short barrel tactical versions-the way they balance and handle. he said my accuracy would be affected as the bullet gets disrupted from the flame discharge. Anyone think this matters??

Also, i don't see many AR's with just the straight barrel to the end without some sort of suppressor or break?? Is this ok??

I don't think most target models have either a flash suppressor or break. That is the first I have heard that the absence of it affects the accuracy, perhaps so, but I doubt it.

A lot of these "experts" you meet at ranges say a lot of crazy things. Your accuracy is not being affected, my M&P 15 PC has nothing on the muzzle end and it shoots great. A 223 AR has a loud, high pitched report, it's just something you (and others shooters on the range ) have to deal with. If you handload, you could try different powders to find one with less report and "flame". Otherwise, don't worry about it.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but basically aren't flash hiders/ muzzle brakes, more of a solution to tactical problems. In effect, they are used to keep muzzle rise down during rapid fire and to dampen the flash from the end of the barrel to decrease your chances of exposing your shooting position to your adversary.

Unless someone has swapped out some of the components on your M&P, it sounds as though you have an M&P15ORC. The "C" indicates it is a compliant model.....came with a 10 round magazine, no flash suppressor, and the stock does not collapse. It is marketed for those states that restrictions on "assault rifles".
