Just got my MP15 OR... and a question about front swivel?
Hi Guys,
Thrilled to have added and MP15 to the war chest. Bought the OR flat top from CDNNsports.com for $700 +3% +$15 ship +$25 FFL less $100 rebate.
Here is my question: how do I attach a sling to the front end? I don't see any sling swivel there?
I equipped the OR with accessory iron sights (for now) at $30 each. When I am more familiar, will decide which optic.. if any... to add. Thanks in advance! shovel99/paul

At the bottom of the gas block there is a threaded hole , this will permit you to thread in a very short stud , then you simply buy a swivel or use the one that may come with your sling, I even use the 1903 leather sling on mine, hope this helps, pghrich

second alternative
Also on the gas block right in front of the threaded hole is approx 3/8 hole for snap lock swivel. I bought my swivel from Aim. it works quite well, then the swivel stud can be used for the Harris(my choice) bi pod.
You got a very nice rifle there, i really like mine, and the free mags were worth waiting for (10 weeks).

Thanks again for the swivel info!
It's too hot to shoot outside here... so mine will have to wait for a heat break before it goes to the range. Drat!

I don't recognize the source "AIM"?
T mans son..... I don't recognize AIM as a vendor. Can you provide here, or is that a violation of this website and need to go in a PM? Thanks, Shovel/Paul

Me too
shovel99 - I ordered the exact same gun from CDNN on Wed, FedEx shows it will arrive at my FFL on Monday. I've wanted a AR for years, and just could not resist the price for a Smith. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours. Me, I've felt like a small child on Christmas morning waiting for my parents to get up so I can open presents, since I ordered it Wed. How many hours till Monday?

I also just got a M&P15OR from CDNN. Incredible deal. My came this past Monday. I cleaned it, put the MagPul backup sights on and immediately took it to a friends range and shot 160 rounds. All perfect. I couldn't be happier. Well, except I haven't had time to shoot it again this weekend.

CBR240 - did you install the magpul (polymer) bus on the gas block rail?
Ok - I see in another thread you did - please post a followup on its heat resistance - the magpul page has a note on the specs tab that the sight should not be mounted on a railed gas block due to excess heat -
On the sling swivel - I have a Troy quick detach swivel on my OR - it is rock solid - but tried 2 Brownells that pulled right out before getting the Troy ...

I just got my M&P15 OR, and new to the forum, great info and great forum, I also got mine at CDNN sports and was saving for a RRA, but this was a great deal. 699.99 +3% then $15 shipping and $10 FFL. I had to do it. Also a lifetime warranty and Smith is 2 hours from my house. Thnaks for the info on gas block, I am looking at some Yankee Hill machine Buis sites. They have the QDS which have a real low profile. They to are very close to Smith in Florence MA. Thanks for all the input and info on the forum.

m41lover - The MagPul MBUS are still holding up well on my new M&P15OR. I did not know that MagPul did not recommend them for use on gas blocks. Makes sense, the front one does get really hot. Seems fine so far; but I'm only at just under 1000 rounds now (too few to mean much). I'd save for those Troy backup sites, but that would delay my EOTech, I NEED a XPS2-0 .
