Default Burris Scope

I am looking at putting a Burris AR-332 3X32mm Red Dot scope on my M&P 15 OR.
I will not be shooting past 300 yards mostly 100 to 200 yards and CQB sport type shooting and wondered if anyone has this scope and what there opinion is of the scope.

As a pistol shooter with red dot scopes an an AR owner, I don't think a red dot will work past 75 yards with precision. Your rifle will shoot 1 MOA or less. The red dot is a 4 MOA dot, this don't compute for accuracy. Just my opinion and it was free.

Thanks for your thoughts.
I compete in IDPA and USPSA and might try my hand at Three Gun Compitition and thought it might be a good scope for it.

Red dots are not intended to be precision optics. However, they offer significant advantages over iron sights and magnified optics. Faster less complicated sight picture, the ability to shoot with both eyes open, and for me the ability to shoot the rifle from either shoulder are much more important than being able to obtain 1 moa on a range. In reality when the SHTF you want to put rounds on target. A 4 moa dot at 100 yards will put all the rounds within four inches of each other if you do your part. This is more than accurate enough to keep the rounds in the torso. Just my two cents YMMV.

You might want to consider this guy instead:

Burris Fullfield TAC30 Rifle Scope 30mm Tube 1-4x 24mm Illuminated Ballistic CQ Reticle Matte - MidwayUSA

Exact same reticle and loads of flexibility. Much better value for money. Would be much better suited to 3 Gunning; is getting some great reviews on the Brian Enos forum. Could well become the scope for $300.

I run a DMS-1 on my M&P 15-22....use to have it on my M&P 15OR. A 1 to 4 variable is nice and offers a fair amount of flexibility. My only suggestion is to ensure it provides a reasonable amount of eye relief...and hopefully over the entire range of the optic.
