Default New M&P 15 need Sling & front sling Swivel

I just bought a new M&P 15 .223. Love it but I need a good sling. I would like a tactical sling, but don't want to break the bank. I also need a front sling swivel since S&W didn't make it stock with the gun. thanks for your help.

Kurt

You don't mention which M&P15 you have.

The M&P15OR (I have one) gas block has two choices for sling attachment included. The large hole towards the front bottom of the gas block, fits a "push button quick disconnect" type swivel. An old style sling swivel mount can be screwed in the rear most hole in the bottom of the gas block.

If you have a M&P15T (I don't) then you have many rail mount choices. Bravo Co may not always have the best prices, but they have lots of stuff and totally professional service, here's lots of sling mounts and such:
Tactical Slings and Sling Swivels Sling Mounts

For a rear Push Button Quick Disconnect on a std stock, I like the Midwest Industries #10 sling mount:
Midwest Industries MCTAR-10

I really like the Vickers Combat Paddded 2 point sling.
Blue Force gear Vickers Combat Applications Sling
Not cheap, but the quick adjust without any extra sling hanging off is great. They have cheaper models also.

Hope it helps.

Edit - I forgot, there's a sling thread over in the 15-22 forum now. For sling opinions:
Best sling...?

Are there any "push button quick disconnect" swivels that are better than other? What are some recommendations?

I like the HD (heavy duty) ones from Midwest Industries. HD ones have a much larger "button", and to me are easier to push.
MIDWEST INDUSTRIES, INC. : Heavy Duty Swivel, each (100-003-224) - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools
I choose the Midwest Industries, because I used one of thier mounts (so I was sure it would fit). I think many mfgs make these. I've been told everything from they are all the same, to they only work from the same mfg (in my limited experience, this is not true).
The Midwest Industries HD QD I list above fits the original M&P15OR front gas block perfect. I am actually surprised how expensive these are, but they are nice pieces.

The only one I've tried besides the MI one is:
1 1/4 Quick Detachable Sling Swivel - Black Rifle Works
It works, but the "locking balls" are further down the shaft. So it works, but sticks out a little bit, so not ideal. I've always liked Black Rifle Works, but I'm a little annoyed at them as I've asked them several times in e-mail who makes this QD, and although they have offered to refund, they have not been willing to tell me the mfg. I just wanted to know the mfg, so I could start figuring out who's were compatable with who's.

Sorry, that's about all I know. I've been hoping a expert would jump in here and tell us the real deal.
