Default Sold my MP15T - BIG regrets

I made a silly mistake. I sold my MP-15T for a BCM. Boy do I regret it.

Bought a BCM complete upper a month or so ago. Put it on my S&W lower. On the 2nd to last round, the bolt would either slide right over the rounds and close, or it would misfeed and cause a jam. This happened on all my 8 magpul pmags. (Never had a this problem with my S&W upper). I had sold my MP15 upper by this time

I sent the BCM upper back to BCM. They said they tested it extensively and it was perfect. They said some S&W lowers had some problems in the past. Thinking it must therefore be the S&W lower causing the problem, I went ahead and bought a BCM lower.

Took it to the range today, EXACT same thing. Plus sometimes the bolt does not stay back on the last round. And in addition, the trigger is not crisp like the S&W trigger, but grainy-feeling. If you pull it back to just before it breaks and you let go..the trigger just stays there without reverting to the forward position.

I am having a very serious case of buyers remorse. I miss the reliability and the feel of my S&W. But I heard such awesome reviews of BCM from AR enthusiasts. Perhaps there is a vehicle analogy, where S&W is like a Honda, not so sexy but ultra reliable and smooth running. While BCM is like an Alpha Romeo: not so smooth running and not reliable, but enthusiasts love them.

So I will try return or sell or trash the BCM upper. I dont want unreliable and picky equipment. I am in the market for a S&W upper. Anyone know a good online resource for a MP15 complete upper? Any version will do except the piston uppers

Thanks and happy new year to all.

FWIW, every review I read about the M&P 15 emphasized that S&W had one main goal. Utter reliability.
I think your analogy may be correct. However, the fact the second lower still produced the malfunction also tells me there is probably a problem with the upper that is not the norm with the BCM product. I think I'd try to get the company to make it good one more time.
Hope it works out for you.

I would certainly contact BCM and let them know that the problem now exists with their lower.

Give them a chance to make it right. I would also ask them to pay for the round trip needed to fix it, especially if you paid to get the upper back to them the first time.

This. I expect that BCM will make it right given that you have eliminated all but the upper as the root cause, and that the entire gun is now BCM.

I'm sorry to hear that your M&P15T had to go to get the BCM especially considering the current state of the BCM weapon that replaced it. You might have a look at the Spike's Tactical enhanced FCG. From the description provided by folks using that trigger group it sounds like it feels / works as smoothly as the FCG in my M&P15T (which is easily the best milspec AR trigger I've ever used - no creep, no grittiness, crisp and consistent break). Let us know how it works out.

That Spikes is not a bad trigger....I bought one to see. BUT.....it is still not as good as my stock M&P trigger - I agree with you, it is the best one out there. As a miantenance item on mine due to high round count, I switched out the springs for these: AR-15 CS Trig/Hamr spring set - AR15 Trigger Springs by Superior Shooting Systems - and IMO made the trigger even better ('crisper', I'd say), and these springs should last forever (well....at least the life of the hammer, trigger and disconnector).

The Spikes I put in my 15-22 (which is an improvement over that one). Also polished it a bit, I think it will likely wear in well, but will never have to absolute zero takeup of my stock one.

To the OP - sorry to hear of your woes - I'm sure BCM will make it right though, keep at them.

Yeah, I will NEVER sell my M&P 15T.

I will be buried with my 15T.

It's my favorite and best most reliable rifle I own.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss/sale.

Decided to return the upper to BCM, who graciously agreed to issue me a credit.

Got a S&W upper from PrimaryArms, will slap it on my BCM lower. If I still dont like that, then I will just buy another S&W lower.

The lesson leaned: The M&P15 is a superior weapon! Hold on to it!!

Sorry to hear of the BCM fiasco. I have an M&P15 FT here in NY, and I would'nt trade it for a BCM. I have heard only good things about BCM, and their product. They made good on it and that is the important thing. Good luck with the new build.

Put on the new S&W upper, and presto! Everything works again. No misfeeds, no failure to lock back on empty mag...

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with BCM, but glad it all worked out for you.

I had a bad bolt on my M&P when it was new. I replaced it with a BCM bolt and haven't had a problem since. It sound's like you just got a bad upper from them. Like you, I really like my S&W too.

I've got the MOE version in dark earth color and I love the look. It's a Ferrari!

I built a M&P lower and just got a M&P15T upper to top it off.
Have'nt had a chance to fire it yet. But listening to you guys makes me anxious to give her a go. I have 4 DPMS guns. one in 223 stainless fluted, a .556 Piston M4, A LR308 Bull stainless fluted and an LR308 AP 4 all which I love. Also an Clinton era Colt which has been retired to Safe Queen status. Im looking forward to good things from my New M&P15T.
