Default moe handguard

does anyone know if you can mount a rail on top of the moe hand guard, i know that you can buy the guard with either 5,7,or9 slot rails that you attach yourself, but it says in the 2,10, and 6 positions but when i look at the rail it looks pretty flat on top and it has slots so my guess is that it would work.

Not on top but on the bottom and both sides (angled at appx. 45 degrees). It is slightly peaked on top.

I have this hand guard in carbine-length, and the top is indeed flat. You could mount a rail on top, but note its very close to the gas tube so be careful on screw length. The 11 slot rails also fit on this size hand guard. Note though if you have the OR model, a top mounted hand guard rail would be higher than the OR's front rail.

I have an OR and I put on the MOE guard with a 9 slot rail on top. I have my sling mounted on it just behind the gas block. Works very well.

Good info. I have one too and didn't think that would work. So the only thing it precludes is mounting something that might interfere with an optic or the BUIS?
