Default Need a little info on how to...

I wondered if anyone out there could give me instructions on setting the rear troy battlesight to hit target at 25 yards for indoor range with M&P 15 sport 223 or 5.56? How many clicks do I have to go up or down? The range is only 21 yards to 25 yards. I'm new to this forum and not sure if I'm posting in the right category but if someone could help me with this I'd appreciate it. If you are able to answer I'd appreciate if you could send an email as I'm not totally sure how this forum works yet and I don't want to miss a reply if someone can help. my email is [email protected] Thanks

If the sight has yardage marks, the 100 yd setting should be real close at 21 to 25 yds. Try it and see how it does.

"Battle sights" are normally set to maximum point blank range, and a center of target hold is used for a sight picture.

For a round like the 223, point blank range normally is calculated to keep the impact within +/- 2.5 inches of point of aim.

If you get your bullet info and muzzle velocity for your gun/ammo combo, you can determine point blank range for your setup. (it will likely be 240 to almost 300 yds)

I don't know if all your shooting is going to be at short range or not. If you plan on sighting at short range and going to longer ranges later such as 100, 200 or 300 yards you will need to consider the sight line vs. bore line. On most ARs the sight line is more than an inch above the bore line. If you set your sights to hit dead on at 25 yards then when you go to long ranges you will be shooting high.

I don't believe your Troy rear sight has an elevation adjustment, so you will be moving the POI via the front sight post. POI will move about .25in for each click at your range distance of 25 yards. Turning the front sight post up will move POI down and vice versa.

Depends on where you're hitting as to whether you turn the front sight. As Chphil stated, one click of the front post amounts to .25". post goes up, POI goes down.
