Question What are a good set of scope rings?

Hey everyone new to the forum, and still learning. Just bought a Sport 5.56 and I want to mount a 3-9/32mm, 1 inch dia. scope, but I don't know which scope rings to get and where a good place to get them is. I don't want the front A-2 style iron sight to be in the line of vision when looking thru the scope so I need some tall rings, but I don't know how tall. Any ideas on where online to buy them, how tall do I really need, and how much I should pay? I've seen rings anywhere from 5.99 to 100.00 and more, been searching for days now and I'm more lost than when I started. Any info would be awesome, pics of a sport with a similar setup to what I'm talking about would be cool to, just to get a visual. Great forum everyone I've all ready learned so much. Oh yeah, are picatinny and weaver style mounts the same? And if so, is one better than the other? Sorry for so many questions in one post, but they are just the tip of the ice burg. Once the scope is installed I will posts pics here to.

I would recommend the Burris PEPR. This is a high quality mount that you will never regret purchasing. It not only sits the scope up high, it places it farther forward, giving you proper eye relief. This is difficult to get on flat top ARs with normal rings. Don't worry about the front sight base, it will blur out due to the magnification and you won't even see it.

The regular version is on sale for $70 on Midway right now:

Burris AR-P.E.P.R. 1-Piece Extended Scope Mount Picatinny-Style with Integral 1" Rings Flattop AR-15 Matte - MidwayUSA

They also make a QD version which is a little more expensive.

Thanks dragon88 for the advise. That mount does look nice, but it costs almost 80.00 after shipping. The scope I'm mounting only cost 50.00 at a gun store. If it was more expensive I could see justifying a mount at that price. I would like to find something just a little cheaper if I can, but I will think about it. It does look good, and I like the picatinny on top.

While I think the above PEPR mount is a better alternative, these are very inexpensive but come from a quality company.

I have a Burris PEPR and agree with Dragon88 it's a good mid priced mount. There are other less expensive that would work. The Rock River Arms is $50 or less. Here's a great site for those considering a one piece mount for an AR.

I use a Burris P.E.P.R. on my M&P 15 to mount my Nikon scope. I can remove it quickly and install my EOTech HWS. When I reinstall it I do not have to re-zero the scope which is a nice feature. Midway has it on sale right now, both in 1 inch and 30mm rings. It also comes with a second set of standard top rings if you do not want to use the rings with the mini-rail on top.

Hey everyone thanks for all the ideas. I ended up buying a set of weaver rings and a picatinny riser. I'll put a pic up tomorrow. Got the setup for 50 bucks and it works well. I can't see the front A2 style iron sight while looking through the scope. Shot 50 rounds today and got it sighted, it didn't loosen up at all. In a month or so its on to the next project, Quadrail. I have only had a Bersa 380. hand gun and a Marlin 22. rifle before. The M&P 5.56 is a whole different level.
