Default M&P 15 Sport Barrel Replacement

I am new to the world of ARs so please forgive me if this is a stupid question with an obvious answer. I purchased an Connecticut Compliant M&P 15 Sport (barrel is not threaded and stock is fixed). I will be moving out of state and would like to buy a new barrel that allows me to screw on a muzzle brake. My question is, are all the barrels that I have come across on gunbroker.com that are 5.56/223 compatible in my rifle? I see some that are listed as "Milspec" and am not sure if that means the dimensions/ threads are any different and would prevent me from installing it in my upper. Here is the one I had my eye on:

AR15/M16 M4 1/9 5.56 BARREL AR-15 MILSPEC 556 223 : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com

Please confirm that this barrel would be good to go so I can get this done. Thank you!

Im not sure if that barrel would work or not...why not trade in or sell your current sport at your new local gun dealer for a "full-up" M&P Sport? It might be cheaper and you'll have a new Sport. You could do the same thing with just the upper assembly.

If you like the way the gun shoots for you now, then you might look into getting the barrel threaded instead of having a spare barrel laying around.

Here's what I would do: Sell your compliant model before you move, as a Compliant model is less desirable and valuable in normal state. Once you move back into Free America, buy an M&P 15 with flash hider and collapsible stock and all the other goodies you want.

Yes, you could put just about any AR barrel on your rifle, or have your current barrel threaded, but why bother? As long as you can get a decent price for your current rifle, just buying a whole new gun will likely be cheaper and easier.

thanks for the input. i agree with everyone here that the most logical option for me at this point is just to sell the upper and buy a new one out of state. thanks again

Actually, the consensus was for you to sell your current gun(as a whole) and buy a brand new one that fits your needs. And when you speak of a muzzle brake, are you looking at actually a flash hider? From the little I've read and from my own limited experience thus far, a muzzle brake isn't all that necessary since there is little muzzle rise when the gun is fired in semi-auto mode.

Hope you find what you need and have fun!

Here's a thought: Keep the compliant barrel, and buy the new barrel (Or better yet, an upper) you are looking at. All AR barrels will fit the gun; it's still a regular 'ole modular AR 15. Now; you get the barrel you want, and IF you ever have to move back into the Connecticut area, you can replace the barrel with the compliant one, and you are good to go. Or buy an entire upper, and swap them out at will, in about 30 seconds. Taking a loss on a perfectly good gun is asinine! There is nothing-NOTHING wrong with the sport model lower, nor the upper. As such, there is no reason to throw away some money and DROS out another gun (Throw away some MORE money) when I can promise you; if you point the Connecticut version of the sport at something and pull the trigger, the object on the other side of your rifle will respond EXACTLY as would anything standing in front of an AZ compliant model of any AR 15 variant. It will cease to notice that you don't have a flash suppressor.... about .05 second after you pull the trigger.
