I have just purchased my Sport and think it is going to be a great gun for my purposes. I also purchased a Leupold 2X-7X-33 Scope. My question is what type of mounts should I use? Is the Burris P.E.P.R. type mount best? I am a newby here and this is my first AR, so I will probably be asking lots of dumb questions...Please bear with me.
Edit...I looked it up. That would work. Be aware though, the 2x may allow the front sight to be seen in your objective. I only speculate as I had a 1.5x on my Del-ton, and there is some A2 in the lower sight picture. Other than that, looks as if it will be a solid set up.

Burris PEPR. It's a bit pricey compared to rings, and there are other options, but you will never regret doing it right the first time with the PEPR. It's on sale right now at Midway for $77.
They also make a QD version if you are interested in that.

I highly agree with Dragon on this. I really like the top-down horizontal clamp vs a side to side vertical clamp. The vert. units tend to drift the reticle much more easily and you wind up resetting the scope 10 times before you are really happy. The QD unit holds the zero for you really well with any decent optic.
Burris 2 -piece riser blocks and 2.5 Burris full field scope. No batterys and fast on moving targets with wide view and low light use. Pentex light seeker 2.5 is still made and its the same scope as the Burris 2.5 fulfield. Both are the same scope. Trouble free and no batterys to fail. I use the high Leupold steel rings. A good solid setup.
