Default sport questions

a few days ago i got a sport.
around 80 rounds down range- flawless.
been lurking for 8 years, now i pounced.

question:
is it ok to dry fire the sport with nothing in the chamber?
does the sport's barrel seem thicker than regular ARr's?

Yes it is.

The 15-Sport's barrel does not have any profile cuts in it. That's why it looks thicker.

It looks like a bull barrel AR.

One of the things I love about the Sport is it doesn't have the silly grenade launcher recess. It's a good looking barrel IMHO. The rest of it aint bad either.

It's fine to dry fire it; though I wouldn't make it a habbit (It's just a bad habbit to have) The Sport is real fine rifle. Very accurate, very dependable, no non-sense type of weapon. Have fun; I'm confident you will enjoy it.

If you're worried about dry fire, just pick up a couple A-Zoom snap caps.

Most modern center fire firearms are OK to dry fire, but it is a habit I avoid because the one time you forget to clear, BANG------------------

Military M16s have been dry-fired hundreds of thousands of times by trainees with no ill effects. Dry fire your AR-15s to your heart's content.

Sure, let's take me back 30 years to my first time ever dealing with the 1911 .45 .

Toes?? Check. Fingers?? Check. Dad gonna make my rump raw in about 4 seconds once he climbs back over the embankment and catches me??? Oh Hell yes....CHECK.

Dry fire all you want. As far as the barrel, it is thick like a bull barrel 1:8 5R.
