My M&P15 Sport rear sight ???
Hey Everyone:
Last night I received my Sport, and it is way nicer than I even imagined. After reading so many posts about it, I still read the owners manual. I feel like I know my weapon, and it was great to be able to look at it and understand better what I was looking at. Right now it is 9 degrees f and it is just a little cold to go out and shoot it, but I cant wait. I just wanted to thank everyone who answered my questions about the weapon but I have one more. Is the MagPul MBUS rear sight accurate. I have the opportunity to pick up a USMC surplus rear sight that is made out of metal and has the yardage adjustable on the side. I would like some opinions on which one would be the better sight on the weapon, please. Thanks Again.

Magpul makes a decent rear sight. Troys are more durable, or so goes the conventional wisdom, and the Corp's sights are fine, I'm sure but only spend the money if "provenance" appeals to you.
All will do the job.

Provenance does appeal, but when the price is free, I find that appealing also. I am mostly asking so I can put the best one on my present M&P Sport and then save the other for my wifes, AR when I build it. Thanks for the information on the Melonite Process also..and thanks for responding.

Well, can't beat free! It would appeal to me for the same reasons, BTW.

Is it a KAC 600m, or Matech BUIS, or a carry handle with integrated rear sight? The Magpul rear sight will be fine, but if you can get one of those for free, I'd go for it. The Magpul will be a good transplant to a future AR.

If its free, simply shoot both of them and see which you like best. Then keep the looser as a spare.

Congratulations Oneyeopn! They are nice! The MBUS is just as accurate as any other peep. It's just a lot more flexible then the ones they used to put on the Sport. Enjoy!

its the Matech BUIS with the yardage marked off on the left side! I tried the Magpul this evening and it was pretty good...I will compare both and run with the one I like.

Can you put a scope on and still leave the MBUS on? I've been thinking about getting the Nikon P223 but would still like to leave the MBUS on folded down.

Yep BUIS means "back up iron sights". Their purpose is to back up optics and they fold to allow the scope to be mounted without interfering.

Why I ask that is there doesn't seem like enough rail room if both are on it. It would be nice, I like the Nikon scope, waiting for Cabelas to get it in as they seem to be the only one offering it with the mounting rings.
