Breakfree CLP

Magpul PMags

I've shot 50gr & 65gr just fine. With 1:8 5r progressive rifling, I hit up the middle of the projectile weight range with a little room on either side.

Frog lube is great stuff, pricy but lasts a long time and is not toxic. Exceptional rust protection and the paste works great on the bolt. With any CLP type stuff you should use a copper cleaner in the bbl. once in a while.

Default Sorry off topic

Hey guys I know this is off topic, but I am very new tithe forum thing. So I will learn as I use this more. But I recently purchased my first personal AR, the SW M&P15 sport, and I want to change the hand gaurd to a quad rail system...I har looked online and amazon and such. I just don't know which ones would fit my gun. How do I know what size or type will be compatible with my rifle? Any suggestions?

Carbine length, drop in if you want easy install without altering the rifle.

Primary arms. Com is a good source and has a railed quad type under forty dollars.

For quad rails as MPDC said you want carbine length.

UTG is a decent budget one from what I've heard or you could go the Magpul Moe route with rails all over it for about $60 or so for either option.

Midwest Industries Gen 2 drop in looks nice as does the Troy industries both at about $139. They have the sweet QD sling attachment points. The MI has the extended top rail to give you the monolithic type railestate.

The best in alot of peoples minds for a direct replacement( but pricey) are probably the Daniel Defense Omega rails. They are free floating but you dont have to modify the weapon ( they have allen screws that go into the barrel band IIRC ). They have a 7" model @ $250 or so and a 12" model (still for the carbine length gas system but has an extension that runs around and then in front of the stock front sight block ) for $350. They also have a standard direct replacement drop in style quad rail for $160.

In the end it's obviously about how much coin you have to spend ( seems kinda silly to me to put a $350 quad rail on a $700 gun but thats just me LOL ) and who's propaganda you believe.......... good luck in your search!

I like the MOE, it's very lightweight and you can get a good grip on it too. Those metal shrouds with the rails on them are a little uncomfortable to hold and are a bit heavy IMO. You can get rubber rail covers for them tho...

I use a 60% moly grease and SLp2000 on all my semi-autos. I don't operate in particularly harsh enviroments so YRMV.

I use Weapon Shield oil and Tetra grease. I am a big fan of Pmags. I haven't had any mag problems in over 1200 rds fired. The last AR that I owned was 15 years ago. I spent a lot of time fixing GI mags so they were reliable. Don't have to do that with my Pmags!

How much grease do you put on the BCG ?
Do you just put it on the sliding points where the metal rubs on metal ?
