Default Quad rail help

Bought my M&P Sport last summer and am now in the process of upgrading. I would like to get a rail system that will allow me to equip a bipod to the front so i can shoot at 100+yds. There are so many out there that im a bit overwhelmed at this point...So here is what I need from you folks.

This needs to be done on a fairly tight budget. I do not need anything made of some space metal only found on certain parts of the planet and costs a million bucks....lol. All i need is the most basic quad rail so i can put a cheap Harris bipod or whatever on my AR. What do some of you in my position use on these M&P Sports that seem to work just fine and doesnt cost a whole lot?

Provide me a link if you make a suggestion on where i can purchase...

THANKS!!

Aluminum and secured with screws for stability. Hard to beat the price.

I bought a 7 slot picatinney rail that I mounted to the bottom of the hand guard on my Sport for $10. Here is a 5 slot for under $8 with free shipping.

OK...so after looking at all your suggestions, i may actually be interested in a rifle length quad rail. I would like the extra room to allow the addition both a bipod and front grip. Is there any extra modding of the rifle involved when adding a rifle length rail? Do you have to move or mess with the gas tube, etc etc...please help.

Thank you

Good lord..im getting a bit overwhelmed i think...over something so easy, but im really new at this, so i appologize for the multiple threads.

i think i answerd my question about modding from above post. I went to CTD.com and found this one:

ARR-239 - AR-15 Rifle Quad Rail System UTG PRO Black Replaces Original Handguards 12" Easy Installation

its what i am looking for, and reasonably priced. However, i am so new i am unfamiliar with some terminology and dont want to purchase the wrong item.

ITEM DESCRIPTION:

Mil-Spec Picatinny Quad Rail handguard allows for a huge array of accessories and is precision machined for maximum strength. The two piece design replaces your original plastic handguards and locks in place for a secure fit. Rail installs easily without gunsmithing or modification to the barrel.

Precision machined from hard anodized aluminum for superior wear resistance. Four rails with 27 slots per rail includes rubber rail guards for comfort and protection.

Fits AR-15 style rifles. Black. Made in the USA.

(NOTE: Fits only rifles with triangular handguard cap, will not fit rifles with round handguard cap.)

The first part in BOLD text is the modding im referring too, and the second part in BOLD is what i am unsure of. Does this statment mean this product is compatable with the M&P 15 Sport or not?

Thanks again folks...

Its cool dude. Here's whats up.... a rifle length will not work, get the "carbine length" for drop in. It corresponds to the gas system here are the ones you are looking for

Cheaper than dirt part numbers for UTG rails

Carbine Quad Rail - Black ARR-238
Carbine Quad Rail - OD Green ARR-236
Carbine Quad Rail - Army Digital ARR-237
Carbine Quad Rail - Extended Length ARR-157

The other dude that said they were discontinued is correct. These are the new " Pro" versions aiming at offering a more " MILSPEC" carbine replacement forend at a similar "budget" price

here is a video with the part numbers as well and install

I run a forward grip and a bipod on my "carbine length" UTG quad rail and there is plenty of room. The bipod I have is quick disconnect...takes two seconds to remove it.

You don't need a foot of rail....get a GripPod. It is your bipod and forward grip all in one. Been running one for a couple of years now....works very well.

I run a Daniel Defense Omega 7.0 rail on my M&P.

If your going for accuracy at 100 or more yards with a bi pod, you will need to use a free float guard rail. If you have a carbine, then use a carbine guard, I have the UTG Pro, made in the USA and not the cheap air soft product UTG is. You have an AR 15 so do not buy air soft products.

If you go free float and you do not have a barrel wrench you will need a gunsmith to install it. They will charge around $40.00 to do it.

Here is mine.

Similar to the one that Splittiebus mentioned (ARR-157) Midwest Industries makes a version that has a cutout for the A2 front sight. It's a drop in replacement that provides extended rails. I just picked up my MP15, and was thinking about ordering one, but went with a carbine length KAC instead. Kinda wish I had ordered the MI version though. With a vertical grip and a Surefire 951 light, it's a little crowded.

Midwest Industries MCTAR-17x is the model number. Haven't read through the rules yet to figure out if I can post a link to MI's sight, but a google search will find it easily enough.
