Default Serious Range Time Today!!!

Well it is supposed to be up close to 70 degrees with no wind to speak of. My friend with is new Bushmaster and me and my Sport are taking the shooting table,chair, bench rest and all that goes with it to the range. I know I dont have my scope on yet, but I will be able to sight them both in and see which is inherently more accurate. I hope Dad brings his Colt out, I could then get a good comparison between the 3. Report to be filed later. Have a great day. (there is no emoticon for great big &#^@ eating grin)

Sounds like a good day! Are you mounting your scope sometime today?

The Riser isnt going to be here today but I am going to put the scope back on it to see how accurate it can be.

I know people say you can't see the front sight when using a scope, but (and you have now seen my setup), when I zoom in, the front sight will cause a 'fog' so to speak. If I don't zoom in much past 9x, there is no issue at all.

The scope I have on my M&P15 is one I stole off my 22" barrel 10/22, and it didn't have this 'fog' look to it mounted on that rifle. Too low on funds at the moment to buy the M223 I want, so it'll work in the mean time. It zero'd in good enough to ring a 12" plate at 330 yrds repeatedly. Mines a 4-16x40

Talking

Great Day at the Range, I took a friend of mine who I traded the Ultradot to with me, It took him over an hour to shoot a 30 round clip just to get him sighted in. And yes it took "30 Rounds"...anyway we moved from 50 to 100 and then I shoot a couple of 20 round mags at 200: This barrel on the sport is unbelievable, Shooting Silver Bear 55gr FMJ we had the wind coming from behind us kinda left to right gusting to 10, calm day in SW Kansas. The first target is after I had adjusted the scope. What looks to be a flyer in the upper left, I was aiming for the square, last shot. The Second target is where I first started sighting in the rifle, the very first shot is at the bottom of the page. I took a 40 minute break between targets (not my choice) Anyhow then went into the pasture and had a great afternoon prairie dog hunting. I need a sturdier bipod, but I am really happy, but I have two other scopes and I may play around with it. It is hard to get to the charging handle.

Yeah I could see the fog but it didnt interfere but I cannot wait to get my 1" riser, the fog should really disappear the fog gets worse the farther off you are looking down the scope from straight..

sounds like you may need a Karsten cheek piece if your going to shoot with a good cheek weld, unless you've got tall facial features. I have one on my purpose built .308 with tall bases, it's so much better with a good weld.

The only thing that malfunctioned was the kid I was shooting with and the fact that I drank way to much coffee and was kinda shaking....man I love my gun, He has a brand new Bushmaster, looks like a traditional M4A3 he has had it about 2 1/2 months, shooting the same ammo at the same distances with me shooting it even. His never did really group like the sport it was more like twice the size of mine, unless he was standing 21 feet from his target then it grouped. and hunting prairie dogs was the same thing, it was close but no cigar....There is something going on good with that sport barrel!!!!

right now I just need to put lead down range and really get to know my sport, although it was fun watching Pdogs explode, with a 22 they just slump over. I was zoomed all the way out and I could see the surprise look they had when the shots didnt hit but hit right next to them.

Do you have a place you pdog hunt for free, or do they charge you a fee?

Crracer;
I go out to our farm...we have tons of them, if we could find a nice day you could drive out west and go prairie dog hunting with me! When you get really good with a rifle hunting pdogs you can shoot anything accurately.
