Required extra parts for install
Thinking about picking up a free float rail like this one and was wondering what extra parts I would need to buy for the install?

I just installed a 7" UTG and everything needs to be removed off the barrel according to the instructions that came with it. Also depending on your barrel nut, you may need change that out too. Think of it like a barrel swap. If you have the tools to do this, you should be good. The one I just did had the same barrel nut and I did some drilling and filing because the way it is designed, the UTG( 7" atleast) won't slide over a low profile gas block. What I did was remove the material around the gas tube hole of the handguard to make it a groove. It took me 15 minutes to do this. It all depends on what your gun setup is really. If you have any questions, you can send me a PM and I can walk you thru what I did.

What do you have today? A front sight block, railed gas block or low profile gas block? Depending on what you have, there may be a little work or more involved.

AR Carbine Length Free Float Quad Rail V2
I have never had to file a groove in a free float rail and I have installed quite a few now. I would recommend the Omega Tactical over the UTG. I would also consider going with a Mid length or a Rifle length.
What kind of rifle and sight/gas block set up do you have now? It will be easier to help you with a little more information.

It was not so much a groove Grover. The 7" UTG I just picked up to swap out with factory rail that came on my .300BLK upper was set up so that the rail had to be installed before the gas tube could be installed. The 15T and the .300blk upper with the quad rail can be removed by unscrewing 4 bolts and sliding it over the tube and block. The 7" UTG( which looks exactly like factory rail) will not slide over the gas block or tube. It has a bridge of material in the rear area of the mounting section. All's I did was remove the material that was there to match the factory setup.
