Default M&P15-TS Scope Recommendations

I just bought a new M&P15-TS!! Love the gun. I'm in the market for a scope and scope mounts. Does anyone have any scope and scope mount recommendations?

I forget the brand, but please don't recommend those $200+ scope mounts.

Don't they make regular scope rings that mount to a rail instead of a weaver mount?

Sorry this is my first AR15 so not sure if those kind of rings exist.

Thanks oneyeopn, I have that same scope on my 10/22, didn't know if it would take the beating from the .223 recoil.

I took it off of an 8x57 custom Mauser 98 that I have used for hunting for over 3 years, I have put around 400 rounds through the rifle and it has stayed true so far. The rifle is at a gunsmiths right now getting a .308 extra heavy SS 28" long match barrel put on it and is going to require a way better scope so I thought I would try it on my Sport, I used the rings that came with it and a 3/4" NCStar QD scope mount so I can switch to my Iron Sights whenever I want and have been very happy with it so far on my Sport. For the money they are not bad scopes. That is the only one of them I own. I have a couple of Bushnell's, a couple of Tasco's a Simmons and an Alpen. The Bushnell's and One of the Tasco's I spent around 2 bills or over for but it mostly depended on how critical I felt I needed to be. When I get the rifle back with the match barrel I am going to have to invest in a real high quality scope to match what the rifle can do but I normally get by with less expensive scopes with good warranties.

Ahh I was actually looking online tonight on how to mount a scope on a K98. Looked like most were mounting using the rear sight. Then some others looked to be mounted to the receiver.

Anyways, glad to hear that the centerpoint will take the beating. I will have to try mine out on my new AR and if I like it probably buy another one so I will still have a scope on my 10/22.

I wasn't even thinking of the charging handle, I guess that's why there is all these mounts for AR's, LOL.

Have you done any grouping on paper with the centerpoint on your AR? What kind of results are you getting?

RRA has about the best deal in quality scope mounts out there. No rings needed as built in. I have the cantilever mount on mine and an old 2.5-10 scope.- Rock River Arms: RRA Hi-Rise Scope Mounts and Rings

Well I mounted my CenterPoint from my 10/22 on my 15-TS and I didn't use a scope mount. Just mounted it to the rail. Where my eye relief is the scope is actually far enough forward to still access my charging handle easily.

I will hopefully get to test it out this weekend if it stays nice outside! I can't use the front rubber flip up cover though as it hits my top rail.

Front rubber cover just barely on to keep dirt out.

As far as 98's I have three of them. two are drilled and tapped for regular scope mounts in fact one is having a krieger extra heavy SS 28" palma match barrel put on it and 1 (a 1916 obendorf beautiful .323 barrel) has just had lyman aperture targets sights and globe with the changeable insert front installed, for long distance iron sight matches.

On my AR here is what I did with the centerpoint shooting silver bear at 200 yards:.. it is taking forever when you live just about 15 miles from the edge of the earth and you internet starts giving you problems it really sucks. I will have to post it tomorrow but you will be impressed I was and I pulled the trigger.

I have this on my M&P15.
Optisan 1-4x24 Mamba / EAR30 Mount Combo

It's been great. Nice sturdy mount, BDC for 55 grain bullets. It's been a great scope so far. It has really good reviews on the opticstalk forums.

I also recommend the primary arms scopes.

I think for K98 I like the drill and tap idea. As far as your target, very nice! I have been testing @ 100yards currently, until I work up a nice load, but I think I may have to move out to 200yards to make it easier to see which loads are better.
