I picked up an ammo can full of milsup 5.56 M855 from Midway not too long ago, 10 rounds in a copper stripper clip, with the wire seal intact. I think the total round count was 460. It was a good deal!

Use the midway AR codes for 5.56/223 ammo,
I got 300 rnds of federal 223 @ .31 cents a round.
That's not a bad deal, brass cases too.

Just picked up a 1000 rnds. of PMC .223 for $284.50 + tax from Natchez.com. That's the cheapest I could find it online. Few months earlier paid $259.00 for the same ammo, prices are going up.

Any sportsmansguide.com club members here? They're selling Federal 55gr 223 on stripper clips in 900 round packs for $266.96 ($0.30/round) with free shipping today only (3/29 -- use code SH346). That's what I'd be paying per round for shipped Freedommunitions.com reloads.
Bad news is that it's on backorder until mid-April. But if you're in no rush it's a pretty good deal at the moment.
Don't forget that club members can use their 4-month easy pay option as well.

Free shipping is on purchase of $99+. Also they will not bill you till it ships, so that is a plus.

New or reloads? I bought their reloads and so far (~400 rds), except for the ones that got mangled in my 10-rd Thermold mags fiasco, all have gone bang. I don't have enough time behind a rifle to give a fair assessment of the accuracy potential. I'll get a 1 MOA 3-shot group then flyers will open up the 5-shot group to 4 MOA, haha.

Reloaded brass,
Lots of good reviews, and cheap, I'm going to dissect one to spec it out completely.

I have about 3K rounds now so I think I'll wait out the election year madness before buying any more .223/5.56.
I was at a LGS yesterday and was discussing the shortages and price hikes happening with the guy behind the counter. He said it would probably be a good time to buy a used gun come 2013 when all the panic-stricken impulse gun buyers realize that they neither want or need the gun they bought in 2012. lol

I'm not a WalMart fan; however, this ammo 'shortage' has prompted me to check them for 556 ammo. I checked the 3 local ones with no luck. We had to travel for Easter and I checked one in LA that had 2 cans of Federal marked $149. Although they rang up $159 at the register, the clerk got them approved for the marked price. It was the first positive experience I've had in a WM in a long time. Might look into one if you're nearby.

I checked the three Wal Marts near me for some, and they were completely out. It's one of those things of checking them on a regular basis. I did find one of them to be carrying various AR-15's. That day they had a couple of Sig Sauer's, and told me they radomly get in different one's.

Not listed as in stock, but Midway has them on sale for $80.99/1000. They're listed as backordered, but they receive supplies well in advance of the expected ship date. My last order for 3000 bullets had an expected ship date of Nov, but I just received shipping notice for it today.
Or if you want to buy in real bulk Wideners sells pulled bullets for $484/6000 shipped. You need to put yourself on an email notice list as they sell out quickly.
Until the election is over we all may be playing the waiting game for ammo and reload components.

less velocity, more energy.
maybe seated below neck, 2.250"oal.
point of impact may be different.
i use ~25gr for all loads and all bullet weights(CFE, Varget, 4895, Re15).

Higher cost?
Seriously though, since I'm shooting paper at a 100yd-max range I stay with the cheapest bullet that performs well.

MiWall, ammo shop who sells at Crossroads of the West gunshows; Wolf/WPA 223 for $220 per 1,000 rounds. All local SoCal ammo supplies for XM855 or 193 is about $165-175 per 420 on strippers.

PMC XP193 55grain FMJ BT
Can anyone tell me what they think of this round. I found them and the PMC Bronze Rifle at the same price per case. I am told the XP is a faster/hotter round. Any feedback?
Thanks Guys.

I shot a bunch of Freedom Munitions ammo last weekend, 300 rds. in 9mm and 100 in .223, they were surprisingly consistent. I was very pleased with their product.

Very good. I've shot MOA with it.

Except it is .223 and not 5.56. Which in real life means shoot bad guys closer and or from a longer barrel.
It’s also not milspec.
Those who missed Wideners IMI M193 by the case missed the pre panic buying best non designer (bonded/barrier blind) rounds already.

Cabela's has PMC Bronze 55gr FMJ, 20 rds/$5.99 plus $5 shipping on orders over $99.
So if you buy the minimum of 17 boxes to get to $99, that's <32 cents per round.
Updated; Use code REWARDSFree for free shipping over $49. Thats 30 cents/rd.
BTW, the .308 147 gr for $12.99 isn't bad either.

This is absolutely the truth...
I ordered 1000 rounds from FM and they sent me a substitute. Same caliber but a lesser grade round and said nothing about it. Same price. No discount.
what the frig ?
I was not a happy camper.
They would've taken it back but I had to pay return shipping of $34 !!!
But, I always look for the positive no matter how bad something turned out....
That experience turned me on to reloading

I ordered only 100 rounds last night, so I 'll see what comes. Earlier in the week I bought 1000 rounds from Freedom so my ammunition budget was shot, but you know the sickness, I had to buy at least a 100 rounds at that price. I also purchased some 12 ga. home defense. Can't beat the Cabelas free shipping!

I'm not sure if this counts, but I was at Dick's Sporting Goods in Nashua, NH, yesterday and they had a "buy 4 & get 1 free" sale on all mix 'n match ammo. I picked up two boxes of 9mm, and three boxes of Winchester 5.56.

I looked at their site this morning and it was $6.49 for a 20 round box of .223. Thanks for the update. Time to order some.

I went to Dicks in NJ, had the same deal, I bought 3 cases of 12ga. club shot and had $60 in coupons. Walked out the door with with the 3 cases for under $114.
