Default Sling purchase help

I have a newer 15 Sport and looking at buying a sling. Would like to use the factory mount points. There are so many options out there that I am confused so I figured I would turn to the more experienced Sport owners for help. brand/model info would be very helpful or even links. Pics are also always appreciated. Thanks

This might sound silly, but slings are a LOT more of a pain in the neck than one can imagine. The old school 2 point is less effective for the carbine. A single point sling can be good, you can carry and switch sides easily. The rifle might hang strange, and you will need to either change out the buffer tube ring, or attach a sling to the tube there. (I'd say switch out the ring.....)
A 3 point sling is a VERY good idea. It might take a bit of getting used to, but once you 'get it' you will really understand just how good it works. I will look for some pics for you, or a couple links.

I will say that the 'bungee slings' seem like a great idea, until you run around all day and dive on the ground, and run from tree to tree, and swing the rifle from left to right 100 times. Your neck will be cut to shreds....... A good, soft simple nylon sling is easier to work, hangs up far less on your gear (HUGE ISSUE) and does not attack your throat and neck. It is also much, much easier to adjust quickly and then adjust back. (You change gear, take off a heavy jacket, backpack, etc. you can get the jist of what I mean- the sling needs to be easy to adjust.

I picked up the Magpul MS3 sling for my M&P15 300. It'll work as a 2 point or a single point. I believe your sport is setup for a 2 point sling, single point slings are usually attached to a sling point near the end of the receiver/front of the buffer tube.

The webbing is heavy on the MS3 and it has a thumb loop for easy one handed adjustment. This sling will run roughly 40 bucks.

WalMart has a couple of slings (in the winchester line), one is a dedicated 2 point sling, the other has a little of the bungie webbing in as the previous poster mentioned and I believe it is both a single and 2 point sling as well. I believe both run around 20.00. Can't really comment on the webbing, although when I opened one the other day, it looked fairly heavy. The buckles did look like they are fairly durable.

Just a word of caution (from experience), a single point sling system increases the probability of unintentional testicular trauma due to creating a pendulum fulcrum point which can turn an AR into a tactical swinging nut buster.

That being said, I much prefer the humble 2-point sling.

I myself unless actual serious target shooting find the sling a PITA. I have slings on my hunting rifles and find them PITA's also but that is my opinion and it really isnt worth the .02 its printed on. Oh by the way I have a one point and put the ambi sling ring at the rear of the reciever but the very first time the pendulum effect happened I put the sling back in the rifle case pocket!!! LOL
