Free Floatt Handguard recommendations
Hello M&P owners! I have a M&P O.R. I'm looking for a little insight into who has a free float on their M&P and if there is any tips or tricks anyone has as to which ones work well with their M&P. I'd like one to run a rifle length on mine so it remains flush down the receiver and handguard. Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Check out the Daniel Defense FF Omega Rail 7.0. I've got one on my M&P 15 OR model and love it. Installation couldn't be easier. Priced between $225.99 - $299.00 depending where you get it.

Thanks! I've been looking at the Troy rails, It looks like they are releasing new rails with a different locking system for the barrel nut. Does anyone have experience with these?

I ran a Troy Drop in Battle Rail for a while....it is not free floating. However, it was secure, didn't flex, and was super easy to mount. I would think their free float rails would be of the same high quality.
x2 on the Daniel Defense Omega 7.0. I've been running that one on my M&P15 OR for about a year. Can't say anything bad about it. Works great and is also an easy installation....the later being the main reason I bought it. They are a little spendy but then quality always is. I've not checked out their line lately to see what other lengths are available.

I went with
Troy Industries MRF-C BattleRail M4/AR15 Type Carbine (7-Inch)
They said it was the strongest self installed free floating hand guard in the world. lol, I love it
if I had to do it again I would have gone for a longer hand guard so that I could extend my grip for rapid follow up shots.

Yeah I did some more research today and the 11" or 13" Alpha rail from Troy looks to be the winner. Now I just have to wait until they release their new ones so I can use my stock barrel nut!

If your bipod can use a sling swivel stud (such as a Harris), it will work just fine with a round tube, assuming you can mount the stud.
I believe a rail to stud adapter is available in case you wanted to use something like the GripPod.

It had the .750 low pro gas block-http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=375- from rra also when I picked it up and it could have used a full lenght float tube if thats what you want.

Have the same one. Great product and priced below the DD. Also cleaner look without the d ring hanging out.

Did you have to do any gun smithing work to fit this? Im a NEWB. haha. the RRA website says it needs "some" gunsmithing to fit it.
I really like the look of this, but an worried about having to smith it.

I went with a UTG Pro quad rail (mid-length, over a Troy low profile gas block). I know UTG's older stuff has a shady reputation, but I've heard good things about the US-made Pro series, and so far I like it (I've had it about 3 weeks, and 1 range trip so far). It's very solid, good fit-and-finish, and about $100 cheaper than a DD or Troy.

I just installed a 13" TRX Alpha rail from Troy on my Sport. It was the gen 2 with three screws and clampsaround the existing barrel nut. Very solid and modular if you wanna hang some equipment. Pic on page 7 in the sticky pic thread.

I'm a big fan of Midwest and YHM. The YHMs tend to weigh a little bit more than the more expensive ones but they're rock solid and reasonably priced.

Honestly you need a vise a set of vise blocks and an armorors wrench plus a set of allen wrenches and punches for the gas block.
