Default sport accuracy

I have been loading 55 gr fmj boat tail bullets for my sport
I use H335 powder, 23.5, 24.5 25.5 and 26 grains.
The tighest groups have been with 24.5 grains. All of them are1 inch and under at 100 yards. I am going to try 24.3 and 24.7 and see if I can tighten them up any. I haven't even shot any factory ammo yet.
This rifle if definitely accurate and one heck of a buy. I would recommend a sport to anyone looking for an accurate rifle

What are you guys loading for your Sports ?

I've been shooting my Sport with my "standard" 5.56 loads...

Sierra Varminter (#1375) 60 grain HP with a flat base. 24.1 grains of H335.

With my other ARs, I worked this load up and compared it to M855 and M193 rounds. At 100 yards, I found that the 193s were the least accurate, M855s were somewhat better, and there was a dramatic difference with the hand loads. Much tighter and more consistent groups. I'm now shooting with an EOtech red dot though, and it's not exactly a target sight. Good for center-of-mass on a man-shaped target, but that's about it. I can keep my handloads in about a baseball-sized area, which is fine for what I have this rifle for. I also found that all my ARs prefer flat based bullets rather than boattails, also, unlike almost all of my other rifles.

I suspect that if I were to mount a real scope on there, it could probably be shooting 1MOA, especially since I just put in a Geiselle trigger group, which is really nice compared to any factory trigger. I agree that the Sport seems to be an accurate little rifle. Works for me.

Roger

Edit: I've also found the Sport to be very, very reliable. In fact, since I bought it in May of 2011, it has never failed to function in any way. Not once.

Ok got to go out and shoot a bunch through the Sport, Factory ammo was good as always but my handloaded V-Max and Z-max were better following are some 3" Shoot-N-C targets I shot at 100 yards and 200 yards. The wind is out of the south at 18mph with gusts to 27.
5_4_12 Z-Max 100yrds.jpgThis target shows my Z-Max 55gr bullet 26.8 grains of CFE223 CCI #41 primers at 100 yards
5_4_12Z-Max200yd1.jpgThis Target shows my Z-max at 200 yards
5_4_12Z-Max200yd2.jpgthis one is V-Max 55gr 26.8 grains of CFE223 at 200 yards
5_4_12 Z-Max 200yrds3.jpgthis also is another V-Max at 200 yards. A little breezy and I was shaking a litte more than I liked but I am super super happy with the performance...Gonna load up a bunch more.
