Nikon M-223 Scope question
I set up my Nikon M-223 4X16x42mm took it to the range zero'd at 100 yards and was thrilled with the performance. Then the dreaded "OH $&!t" moment hit when I realized the great YHM BUIS no longer could be used in their on top positions, so am I stuck with having to take the scope off and on to switch back and forth (which seems ridiculous) or 45 degree off set the BUIS? Hindsight being 20/20 I would have waited and put the $ spent on the ar scope on a bolt action rifle scope. Any suggestions?

How do you typically use your AR? If you typically try to shoot small groups at longer distances requiring magnification, then your rifle is set up properly as it is now.
Set the rifle up to accommodate the way you primarily shoot.

I've got the P-223 for my AR.Can't say that I care one way or the other about not being able to use the rear sight.I only shoot for fun so if the scope were to malfunction I have other firearms with me to shoot.
If you use yours to hunt then you would need a quick fix in the field. One solution would be a quick detach mount for your scope.
My .02 cents for what it's worth.

Agree with Cypher, I know a lot of guy's who use off set mounts because they think they will use their BUIS. Reality, unless they are practicing, they never use them. I have one mounted on the left side for my wronghandedness and have only used it to show folks and to try it at a carbine match that had target's to 200 yards where I need magnified optic's to see what I am shooting at. Don't give up on what you have since it obviously works for you, just decide how badly you think you want BUIS.

I have mainly used it as a range gun, but my range only has 100 yards. I'm interested in shooting longer distances but will probably use a bolt action for that. I'll more than likely go with the 45 degree rail for the BUIS. Thanks for your input.
