So my girlfriend reminded me that I have a gift card to Sears from last Xmas and they expire in a year so I needed to spend it. Sidenote-Who else knew those things expired? I didnt.. Anyway, I was browsing Sears online and found a few magnifiers that I hadn't heard of except one. There's One 3x from UTG, that's the one I've heard of, than there's a few from Sightmark, Sellmark, and Firefield. I know these aren't top of the line or anything, but are they worth having for a gift card that would otherwise just expire? Anyone have any experience with any of these? And There's a few 5 and 7x's on there. Would my Vortex Strikefire work very well with that much magnification or should I stick down with 3?

I don't know if it matters, but I wouldn't be using it for hunting, and by no means am a very accurate shooter, it will only be used for some range/target time, but more just for fun. Is there really that big of a difference in magnifiers?

It certainly wouldn't hurt, but keep in mind when using a magnifier that the eye relief is drastically reduced and that the Strikefire's 5 moa dot instantly becomes 15 moa with 3x magnification.

Strikefire is 4 MOA, so yeah, you see a 12 MOA dot with 3X, but then that 12" target at 100 yards becomes a 36" target. I also have the Strikefire on my ORC and will be getting the Vortex VMX3 magnifier. It gets good reviews and I like the flip to the side mount. I think Sears sells them, too.
