Thought I would share something I saw on another forum. A user there stated that he recently completed his agency's training class with their new S&W M&P 15T. The course was five days, with a minimum of 500 rounds fired per day. He stated that he had one malfunction and that was user error. There were 24 shooters in his class using the M&P 15T. I'll cut and paste his two posts so you can read what he said.
"I can't comment specifically on the Sport (though I plan to purchase one shortly), I just went through my agency's training for the S&W M&P 15T. We shot the **** out of them for 5 days, only running a patch down the barrel at the end of the day.
I only had one failure on the line, and this was during a drill where we shot support side on the move. Totally my fault, as I normally shoot with my support hand on the mag well. This doesn't work so well shooting left handed (my support side), and I got a stove pipe and a nice burn on my thumb. Lesson learned.
Otherwise, the gun ran like a charm all week.
These were new rifles with magpul sights, though we primarily shot the Aimpoint sight. We put a minimum of 500 rds through the guns each day, with a couple of heavier days mid week. My malfunction is the only one I'm aware of, but it was a class of 24. It's possible that there were others, but none that were discussed during the malfunction drill portion of the class (mine was)."
As many of you guys are aware, the new M&P 15T is a Sport with a FA, dust cover, and quad rail. I'm referring to them now as "Super Sports". I sure would like to see more posts about these rifles running in high round count courses and performing like these 24 rifles did!
