Default Something funny about my "cheapie" Sport! :)

I am fortunate enough to have more than one AR. In my safe is my S&W Sport, and a brand new Colt LE6920.

From S&W, I just ordered one Sport handguard... factory original. Un-insulated. Basic. Small. It was all of $10 and change, and the guy on the phone had to get one from "up in the rifle area" in order to send me one because no one ever orders these.

I simply want the smaller diameter one my much-more-expensive Colt. (factory Colt handguards are much bigger in diameter)

I just thought it was humorous that I was "upgrading" the Colt with probably the least expensive S&W part that I could buy. Maybe if this was a select-fire weapon and I anticipated rapid fire I'd need an insulated handguard, but nope.... The S&W parts guy didn't see the irony though, so I thought I'd tell you guys. Maybe if I'd bought a 5R barrel for the Colt, he'd have got it...

Shoot Rodger I woulda sent one to you for the cost of shipping. Might've sent it for free if had I known it was goin on a colt! Shoulda posted you wanted the handgaurd on here. Collectively, we probably got more factory original parts laying around than they have at the mothership, and we definately have a better sense of humor.

Definitely thoughts and prayers. I'm glad I brought a laugh to at least a couple of us.

I took a day off work today and went to the range with a buddy - now THAT is the way to spend a day off! The Sport continued to run flawlessly, as did the Colt... but... what the heck, they're both nice rifles.

I know this is old stuff to you all, and may sound contrived, but I really, really do prefer shooting the Sport to "that other expensive brand"... It feels smoother and tighter, with the exception of the Rodgers stock on the Colt. That's pretty nice.

One thing for sure - the bore on the Sport really does clean easier than the Colt does. The 5R rifling is simply smoother and easier to clean well.

... and thanks guys, for the parts offer. I should have thought about that. I've got a box of parts too, should anyone need anything I might have. Alas... not a handguard though! It's coming however - but backordered! I got a postcard from S&W parts dept. today. Gives me something stupid to look forward to...a basic, plain handguard!
