Black Friday specials?
Hi all. I just bought an S&W M&P tactical and am in the process of looking at buying some optics, grip, magazines, etc.
My questions to you all is with Black Friday right around the corner are there typically good deals on AR-related items that day, too?
I'm new to owning a black rifle so I'm not sure if I should go ahead and buy say an optic now or if it might be a good idea to wait a few weeks and perhaps save some money on Black Friday.
Since I'm in New England I have time since I probably won't even shoot my rifle until spring.

Congrats on your M&P-15 and welcome to the forum. I know that Midway, Cabela's, etc. have Black Friday sales. Since your not gonna shoot til spring it might be worth it to wait and see. Why don't you tell us what mods your thinking about and maybe someone can help with prices or best bang for your buck ideas.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
For optics, I was leaning towards a Primary Arms 3X Compact Scope. I like the price point, magnification, and reviews of it. I also like the Bushnell Trophy MP sight for a 1X magnification sight. Truth be told, I may get both since the Bushnell is pretty cheap.
Other than that, I need a good cleaning kit, gun case, better pistol grip, VFG (no real preference yet), some more magpul magazines, and of course ammo.
The S&W already has some good furniture so I don't have any plans to change any of that out.
Other than the sight(s), ammo will be the most expensive item as I'd like to pick up a couple thousand rounds this winter to shoot next summer.
I'll probably pick up a 1000 steel and 1000 brass rounds. I pretty much know the sites that have specials on ammo, and there are a couple forums (including this one) where members post up links to daily/weekly specials so I "think" I'm good there.

Congrats on the M&P-15. Most LGS around KY do have some special on lots of gun related items. My experience is that items are very limited. Only 10 or so of each. Sell out very quickly. They depend on the old bait and switch.

Freedom Munitions has a great price on brass plinking ammo. But check around deals can be had. I have been getting emails from AmmoMan who has bulk xm193 for sale although I am not sure on how good the deals are.
Any of the Russion Steel ammo Tulammo, Brown Bear or the like seem to run good in the M&P series rifles, they have a waterproof coating on them that after you shoot a bunch you it seems to coat the chamber walls. Either shoot a couple of brass rounds after you shoot the steel or use a chamber brush to clean it out. As far as a cleaning kit, the Otis for the 5.56/.223 is just hard to beat, and I always recommend getting a boresnake but there is a thread here on [Tools I Use to Clean] that will give you great information, I didnt post it but the person who did gives great advice and I always trust the input from them.

Welcom to the forum. Just keep an eye on the internet being you have time to wait, there are lots of very good company's to chose from just watch shipping that can kill your good deals. Sign up for their email specials, I got a Vortex Sparc with $20 off code free shipping to my door $169.
Also check Amazon some dealers post there. For cleaning kits I bought severial from the not so gun friendly auction site e**y cheap, you
also have to keep an eye out there for lowest price. I got severial of the Otis military cleaning kits for less then $30. Two internet sites I use to keep track of prices are gun-deals.com - User-Submitted Gun & Ammunition Deals and Slickguns | Best deals on guns and ammo posted by users
