I see in the Midsouth catalog that both of these bullets come in a standard and a premium quality.
I just got my order of 500 premium varmint nightmare x-treme flat base 55 gr hollow points, in my opinion they are the exact bullet as the Midway USA dog towns. I cannot tell them apart. So I believe they are made by Nosler. I think the difference between the standard and the premium is the thickness of the jacket.

Bob, I didnt know they came in two standards, the Dogtowns only come in one. Did you check the weight on the Dogtowns to see the variance? I am wondering if the Standards may not be as tightly toleranced as the premiums. It is just a thought or maybe from different manufacturers, but this bit of information plus getting ready to see how the Varmint Nightmare Extremes shoot, I could be done buying the Dogtowns. On the Dogtowns, Midway states that they are made in cooperation with Nosler which to me means "made by Nosler".

The dog towns are made ny Nosler and the Varmint nightmares are also I believe. I cannot tell them apart. Just put 3 or 4 of each in your hand mix them up and then see if you can pick out which ones are which.
The dog towns are on sale for 60.00 and these are 46.00 and the shipping from Midsouth is less as well. If they shoot as good as some say they do I will be ordering more, maybe another 500 hollow points and 500 soft points in the premium ones. I believe you can load them up fast and not have them blow apart.

I weighed them on my digital scale and only 6 were off by more than 0.1 grain The vast majority were 55 and a few 49.9 and 50.1 which is great quality control. I am shooting some tomorrow and will post the details.

I shot the premium varmint nightmare x-tremes today and was pleasantly surprised. They shoot great. 1/2" at 100 yds is no problem. The Hornady Vmax 55 gr did a little better as expected. But for the price and 1/2" groups the Nightmares are an excellent buy.
