Unknown "O" ring appeared while cleaning
Had a great day at the range with my new sport. While cleaning afterwards I found an O ring that may or may not have come out of the bolt carrier group. When I clean, I disassemble the bolt carrier group and let the parts soak in solvent while I clean the barrel. When I went to reassemble I found an o ring that I had not seen before. The inside diameter is the same as the firing pin. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you remove the extractor from the bolt? If so it could be the oring from the extractor.

Yes I removed the extractor. It appears from your photo that the o ring goes over the extractor spring. Is that correct?

Not SWS, but yes, over the extractor spring.

This raises a good question. Are you guys removing the extractor for cleaning?

I actually use an ultrasonic bath to clean my bolt.
A little simple green and water, and 1hr in the bath. Take it out, dry it off and oil it up. Works very well. I do it after every session.

And another good question is "Why?"
