Magpul MOE Handguard install question
Hey guys.
I'm a normal at the 15-22 forum. After a year I had to get the MP 15 Sport.
I love it. The only thing I didn't like was the hand guard. Got way too hot after 30 rounds.
Bought a magpul MOE hand guard with the MSA sling attachment. When I installed the hand guard the top went on fine and so did the bottom but the entire hand guard didn't seem to "snap" into the delta ring.
Its sturdy, stable and no play AT ALL. Delta ring looks secure but I wanted to enlist the experts and make sure nothing horrible will happen if that delta ring isn't 100% engaged into the hand guard.

It sounds like you're ok. If you can, post a picture. That will help us out.

I have a Magpul MOE hand guard on my Sport also. Have had it on my Sport for quite along time. Mine has a small 2mm gap between the base of the Delta ring and the hand guard. It has never came out when I fired any rounds through it.

Thanks for the picture. Mine looks identical. I just wanted to check to make sure I'm not going to cause untold damage with a non engaged delta ring.
BTW, how to do guys like the handguard? I haven't been able to take mine to the range yet.

Love mine, feels comfortable in my hand with know complaints and I like the way it looks. Now others might tell you different. But you only can decide.

Love how mine feels in my hand much better than the stock handguard. My hands are on the larger side and the shape just feels more comfortable to me.

I've got the Magpul handguards on a carbine and a rifle they are much better than a standard A2 handguard all the way around. Its easy to hold,it sits better on a sand bag rest, and its a lot tighter than an A2. If you use the Magpul rails they are even more versitill. I spent a couple of hours last night modifing the rifle length Magpul handguard to fit on a DCM free float tube that came with A2 handguards. It was a bit of a P.I.T.A. but I can't wait to try it out.

really want to see pics of this, doesnt the DCM free float tube have the triangular cap. That is what kept me from using the free float tubes with the factory style grip, plus I really love the rifle length handguards on the 16" barrel!

Oneeyeopn, Your right the front cap is a triangle, but thats ok because a rifle length forend is made for a triangle.Carbines have a round cap. I wish I could post pictures of what mods I did. Which was basicly working down the tabs that go into/under the front cap. They are a little too thick and too long. The other thing that had to be done is to remove the sides of the aluminum heat shield because they expand when the lower handguard is put on the dcm tube causing the top not to fit on it.The best way I can describe the heat shield is a U with square corners at the bottom which thats where I cut the sides out. That way you still have the aluminum reinforcing the bottom of the hanguard for bipod mount and such. This has all bin done on a 20" barreled upper but I don't know if it will work on a carbine barrel because of the gas tube length if using a DCM free float tube.Using any
other type of rifle length float tube is possible but you will have to replace the front sight base with a low profile gas block and if you want iron sights thats not an option. Anyhow thats how I did it.
Good Luck 1HAWKEYE

I believe that is completely normal, it threw mw off at first too. It is just the way it was designed, just check that the delta ring is on there evenly.
