Default Surface Rust

Hey

Got a question on removing rust off a blued gun.

I just received a few long guns from my brother who wants me to sell them. They are from the 50s,60s,and,70s but recently started to develop surface rust on them in some spots.
What's the best way of removing without damaging the bluing too much?

I would suggest using steel wool in finest grade you can buy (000 or 0000?) and putting a good quality gun oil directly onto it and basically buffing the surface rust off.

I agree with the rest, 0000 steel wool and gun oil.

I've used what's called a Big 45 Frontier metal cleaner pad and it worked great, as advertised. And no, it's NOT the same as pot scrubbers @ the local store.
