Quoted from a another forum: "A gunshop owner near me said that Magpul told him personally that they have sold over three million mags this week alone."
Well, I guess I know how I can raise some quick money if I need it.

Meh. The site I purchase most of my stuff from still has the mags listed for the same 'ole price as ever. $12.99 ea.
I understand the very valid concerns people have, but going nuts is not helping a simple situation. Reminds me of folks who run to Home Depot at 6pm AFTER work to get plywood when a hurricane is forecast to hit at 9pm.
The 'Derr' is strong with our country.

There are several sites that show stuff in inventory but it's a different story when you call them. Be a pal and message me the website that has pmags for $12.99

Thats so very tempting to sell them for that kinda price. I only have 6 mags total I could sell 5 for like 600-700 dollars and get a nice 1911 but then I only have 1 mag left. Thats still insane thought

I am not worried about the price of a 1911 going up. Thats a low cap old style gun that everyone ignores like the M1Grand or Mosin Nagant

A friend had 5 PMAGS sell for $350.00 earlier this week. $70.00 ea. for $12.99 mags. It was an auction, he wasn't holding a gun on anyone.
Sad state of our nation now has everyone a bit nuts.

I was at a big gun show in Philadelphia area on Sat. There were millions of P mags every color size and capacity for around $12.00Man thats a big increse in a week. On a side note I was looking on gb this morning and saw 1000rnd xm193 Federal ball for $990 and the auction was still going Good God. I know Im not in the majority but I dont think any things going to get passed

I picked up 10 DSG with magpul followers just before this craziness hit. Not as sexy as the pmag but I prefer them over the pmags that I have. Had no idea that it would get this bad and I just needed some mags. Now I can sell 2, get my investment back and still have 8 at relatively no cost.
Going to the range now to put a couple mags down range. This craziness has got me shaking my head.

Hell no Grover hang onto everything you have! Guns, mags and ammo are going to be worth their weigh in gold, especially after our gun rights attack from the government.

This is absolute Magazine Craziness.
I agree people, it is insane out there. I ordered 5 P-mags from Botach Tactical earlier this week and was just informed that they are now on back order (should have ordered 10) Any how I have also been in search of a M&P 5.56 complete lower, and EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE is out of stock! Hell I can't even find a stripped lower, most of those are out of stock also!

Not really, the 1911 has been copied by everybody and his dog, and is still in current production and sell very well, even Smith and Wesson wanted a piece of that pie! LOL Billy

Hmm, let's see here...****mage through mag stacks.....20's, 30's in rifles, double stacks in 9mm, .40, .45 in pistols. Sitting down in thought provoking fashion. I'm thinking $1,000,000.00 dollars.
Raises pinky to corner of mouth...

Wow, if you get a chance jump over to Gunbroker.com and watch the auctions on AR-15 mags its insanity at its best!! Talk about panic in the streets! unbelievable.
Its like Black Friday, I would hate to see the gun shows this weekend! Everything AR related is being sucked up at prices that are phenominal if and when you can find them!

I just scored 6 Pmags the other day, I traded them for 4 AK mags I had been sitting on for 15-20 year. I got rid of the AK a long time ago so the timing was right

As of yesterday Midway still has Pmags listed at normal prices, but they are on backorder until the end of Jan. the other down side is you can only backorder 2 of each color, style, and size. I wanted to order 8 more so I had to get 2 black, 2 black window, 2 folliage, 2 folliage window. Not a big deal as I wanted 2 different colors for my 223, and my 300blk.

they are up to $70 a piece already, won't be long before they top $100.
Things weren't too bad until all of the online retailers got cleaned out, now the sky is the limit

glockplates.com still has about 40 pmags in stock and 8 tangodown mags. I have 8 of the tangodown mags and they work well for me but right now I am wishing I wasnt such a cheap skate and bought PMags. I could be selling them.

Thanks for the heads up! I just back ordered a pair of 20 rounders. I'm not 100% sure I ever get them. But it's worth a try.

Someone at my work must be psycic, did a group order about a month ago for 11.00 a piece , I bought a bunch as did others , wish it had been double now, but none of us will probably sell.
This will (probably) settle down to some degree like the last ammo scare.

After about 30-40 ar mags, it's kind of silly.
I guess it all depends on what brand and how you use/abuse it that matters.
Some are for the range, others are for training, and a few are for SHTF. Then I have my spares I work into rotation with.

Throw me in that group. The day after the election I was searching for a Sport. Shortly after that acquired about 30 mags - 24 30's and 6 20's for the range. Lots of factory ammo and now reloading consumables. I just had a feeling SOMETHING was coming. No idea it would be such a tragedy that set it off but I knew SOMETHING was coming. Mom always taught me to listen to that little voice inside, My Mom rules.

I guess I'm "lucky" to be living in California so I don't have to participate in the 20+ round mag buying frenzy. hahaha
But I did order another five 10-rounders...just in case.

Maybe I can finally get rid of all those cheap import mags I foolishly hoarded before the last 'ban'.
I've got plenty of 20rd USGI and 30rd Brownells and P-Mags now.
But what if somehow they ALL get declared as 'contraband'?

You very well may be. Soon we all may be scrambling for 10's so we can actually leave our house with our rifles! Who knows.

A valid point. What if they say only 10's allowed outside the home? Unlikely but possible I imagine. Then all the 20's and 30's will only be good for SHTF mags.

Same here. I ordered on Sunday, prior to Obama's initial Monday's news conference, and I got the same e-mail.

Anyone else see this as unnecessary hestaria? If I had even odds, I'd bet that there will be a lot of talk and not much done and people are scrambling for nothing.
It's better safe than sorry but at $70/mag??? I'll take my chances that nothings going to happen.

Well then we are all in the same boat, or we get the adaptors that make them 10round mags

its not just the mags and ARs. i went to two local gunshops and people are panic buying handguns too. one retailer that carries about 50 to 60 smith and wessons all the time was down to 20. low on everything else too. i couldn't get my background check done cause all the lines were tied up. I had to leave my new to me S&W 623 45 acp there and may be able to get it tomorrow. Not panic buying, just finally found a mountian gun in 45 acp

If that's the case, then I'd say the SHTF indeed.

Ummm , even though I have a few dozen of each , I have no reason to use 20 or 30 round mags at the range. It's a waste of ammo and burns the barrel out. In fact , I kinda wonder about those who seem to show up and have to burn thru 30rd mags as fast as they can pull the trigger with very little or no care for basic marksmanship. They seem to want to do as much damage to a target holder as fast they can. Probably the main reasons for the high price and sporadic availability of .223/5.56 ammo.
Just what is the point of burning thru 30rds as fast as ya can pull the trigger? If 2-3rds won't bring an adversary down , well , ,
I do enter the occasional service rifle match and I'm perfectly content to shoot 5rd strings.
Truth be told , my ARs are probably my least favorite range guns. Not even that fond of my M-1 Carbine.
Range time is relaxation time for me. I much prefer my M-1A , Garands , Krags , Springfields , Enfields , Mausers , and even my LR-308.

Don't generalize. I've used 30 round mags at the range. Usually two over an hour period. I'm liking the 20s however as they are a little lighter from a standing position. Point being not everyone who uses 20s or 30s burns thru ammo. I don't.

I didn't generalize , I said , or should have said , 'some'.
I shoot at a private club/range. I pay yearly dues. I don't pay by the hour. We don't have time limits. We don't have mag limits. We have neighbors and surrounding population/industry so we do have a 1 sec between shots rule. Do any damage to the range facilities , and you're gone.
But from what I've seen at public ranges , , , well , I'll never go to one again.

They are both on backorder right now.
If you have a shop you deal with, and get to know a fella by name, he will usually take good care of you. I will have dibs on a few things that are out of stock when they get them in, which will be after the 1st of the year. I paid for the stuff now, at today prices.
I think this will settle down in about 3 weeks, there are a lot of credit cards that people had been dutifully paying down for the last 4 years, and a lot of folks see this as a decent time to run the tab up again. I for one can not bother to compete with that stuff.
My mistake was not getting much more stock in the right places over the last year. I was too busy paying down debts once I was working steady. Ain't it always like that???!!!
To the mods: Sorry about the crafty use of words. I figured that one would displace the true meaning far enough with comedy to not draw Ire. And, as usual.......I're wrong!!!!

Fair enough it's cool. I'm also at a private range. No time limits or restrictions...not even the one per second rule. We did recently outlaw bump firing. Seems one or two were being stupid and had to be shut down. I hear ya damage = gone. 99.9% of our 800 members are serious safety oriented shooters but there always seems to be ONE that needs his hand slapped. lol
