Front sling mount on a OR
What are you using for a front sling mount on a OR? Please post a picture if you are able to.
Thanks

Front sling mount on a OR
Does the OR have a quad rail? I purchased a quick detach 360 swivel sling mount for my front quad. It's awesome. ProMag is the mfg....very well built.

Front sling mount on a OR
...used it on the side rail near the front vs the top of the rail. Great for strong side shooting and still functional if you have to transition to weak side.

Is that a pic of your actual rifle? That doesn't look like the gas block of an OR (at least not mine).
The OR gas block has a quick disconnect socket on the bottom that you can use and one set pin. I don't know how heat would affect it though. I did it for a short period of time.
The gas block in your picture seems to have two set pins and no QD socket. Maybe newer ORs are like this?

That is a picture off the S&W site of a OR, mine is just like it. It has one open hole and one threaded hole. I was also concerned of heat problems.

That is not an OR gas block in the pic. I have used gas block like that, An OR gas block has a hole for a QR sling swivel in place of one of those set screws.

Well it does have two holes on the bottom one is threaded and one is not, I guess I'll have to mount a sling swivel in one of those holes and see if the heat is a problem. Thanks for helping me out.

because the QR sling swivels are not firmly locked in but can swivel around, the heat transference is not as bad as if it were a press fit.

Your OR will have a .375" hole in the front for the QR swivel and the rear is a 8-32 (?) tapped hole. If you buy a swivel just make sure your sling width will fit. Different manufacturers put a variety of sizes of rings. Some will be 1 1/4" some are 1 1/8" or smaller.

I got one like this on Amazon for less than $5.00. It works great.

Re: Front sling mount on a OR
I use an Impact Weapons Components micro QD. You see it on a Magpul handguard but it will work on stock handguards too.

I have a quad rail with a Magpul RSA attachment up front, and have a Troy Industries swivel mounted on the castle nut for single point.

Since he says his gun is an OR, his handguard is definitely aftermarket. There are plenty of aftermarket drop in hand guards available, with the Daniel Defense, Troy and Midwest Industries probably being some of the best available.
The one I'm really staring at is the Troy VTAC Delta drop in free float rail. It's a little pricey, but you can keep your FSB and gas block in tact and all you have to remove is the front swivel sling attachment. Here is a link for it.
