Default My new AR15 (pics)

This is my third AR. I started off (in the AR world) with a S&W m&p 15-22 which I later sold to a good friend. I then bought a Stag Arms 5.56 but had to sell back in Sept to help buy a new motorcycle after Bambi destroyed my last one. After the shootings and threats of new gun laws I began to regret this idea and started looking for another AR. And that was almost futile. None of the local shops had any and they literally laughed when I called and asked if the had any in stock.

So a few weeks ago I just happened to stop in to the shop where I buy most of my stuff and lo & behold there were three AR's there! I knew they wouldn't even last a day or two so I slapped down $200 to hold the S&W M&P 15 Tactical until my next paycheck arrived. Usually this isn't an option, but the dealer recognized me as a repeat customer and hooked me up.

So I got paid on the 16th, coincidentally the same day King Obama proposed his 23 executive actions. I rode my Buell through the freezing rain & sleet to pick up my new rifle as a big middle finger to the administrations proposals and mother nature.

While at the shop, a kid came in looking for an AR and was visibly disappointed when he saw the empty shelves and high prices. He began looking at .22 lever action rifles. I told him about the .22 I sold my friend and that it was now for sale. His eyes lit up. My buddy wanted $500 for it (3 mags & bushnell scope included). Long story short, I sold it to the kid (21 yr old) for $650, got $150 for myself, $500 for my buddy and a nice starter AR for the kid who was so disappointed just an hr earlier. Everyone was happy.

Last weekend we had a gun show in my area and I picked up some 5.56 ammo, a few pmags and a 4x scope with green/red ranging reticle. The grip-pod was leftover from my .22. The gun show was PACKED. I go to this show every year and have never seen it like this.

The shop owner where I bought this is a stand up guy. He didn't raise his prices to atmospheric levels and sold me this AR for $1149. $10 under suggested retail. I know I could've found it cheaper a few months ago, but considering I was offered $2100 cash at the gun show tells me I got a decent deal. This one isn't going anywhere; I learned my lesson...

Nice! Congrats! What state are you from? In Rhode Island you can't leave a gun store without them being in a case and locked.

Default God bless Pa and keep it free

After trying to live in Md for a few months, I felt like I was in a prison. When I inquired about purchasing a handgun at a LGS I was told about a waiting period, I think it was 7 days. In Pa the wait is about 2 minutes. I bought some 22 ammo at a Walmart and the clerk asked me if it is to used in a rifle or handgun!!!!!!!! I purchased some mags from 44 Mag.com and since Md limits mags to 10 rounds they had to send the mag "repair" kit. I started to understand what a Granny State means. At the county public gun range, there is a 5 second pause between shots??? And there were range officers looking over my shoulder. I found myself driving back to my range in Pa just to shoot. The other thing that drove me nuts is that all the local cops and deputies had radar and even though I don't speed much, its just less freedom in my book. Penna doesn't allow any radar, laser etc to be used by any officers except the State Police. Every year the state Chief of Police Assoc., tries to get that changed and I hope they never succeed. I'm not saying I am for speeding, just that it goes along with my notion of more freedom. Same thing for seat belts, you can't be pulled over just for no seat belts. Helmet laws only for juveniles. I love my FREEDOM. Open carry anywhere except in Phila. I don't really think open carry is sensible anyway, but, some do and they have that freedom if they want to. Anyway, I moved back to the state of Independence and it may not be perfect, but its better that Maryland, or New York.

That could be. Philly is its own country. Thats a nice looking rifle. I want one of those myself but I'll wait for prices to come back down.

From the PAFOA (PA Firearms Owners Assoc.) webpage:

To summarize, open carry is legal in Pennsylvania without a License To Carry Firearms except in "cities of the first class" (Philadelphia) and vehicles where a License To Carry Firearms is required to do so.

With that said, we would like to point out that there is much debate among firearm owners about whether openly carrying firearms is really a good idea. While we will leave that choice to the individual we will state that in many urban areas (namely Philadelphia) doing so will draw unwanted attention from law enforcement that may include (but not be limited to) the following repercussions:

Being stopped and questioned by law enforcement.
Having your License To Carry Firearms seized and sent back for revocation.
Being arrested either improperly or for other charges like disturbing the peace or creating a public nuisance.

While this may not happen should you choose to carry openly, many urban law enforcement officers we have talked to have expressed a very negative opinion towards the idea. Some have suggested that law enforcement will do everything in their power to make your life difficult should you choose to.

Technically open carry is legal in Phila too, but I would never do it....you're just asking for trouble from Philly cops....and you don't need that at all.

I agree, but if I dropped my bike in the ice and snow, I would cry twice as hard with my AR on the back, sides my pristine 01 GSXR 1000 doesn't posses much back seat room, honey-badger won't ride their and she only weighs 110lbs. Billy

I purchased a used S&W Sigma SW40VE from Gander Mountain (here in Virginia) and walked out with just the gun in a plastic bag. I was shocked to be honest. They didn't even walk me up to the front. Paid at the gun counter and she placed it in a plastic bag.

I think a scabbard on the front fork leg would be a fitting accessory, get one with a flap over the stock end and a padlock and you could be legal. (not sure about that, better check with local authorities first)

I hope you realize that this is in jest, I think.

Ya'll need to move to Texas! A CHL and a valid ID or drivers license then fill out 1 piece of paper and the gun is yours! No locks no case no nothing. Hell they will sell you the rounds let you load it and then conceal it before you walk out the door. Thanks to the castle law you can have a loaded weapon in your car no matter if you have a CHL or not! I love this state!

We do have it good. And although our Governor has a soft spot for the illegals, at least he loves his guns. I wish I had the video clip to post of him shooting his AR's. They used it to introduce him at the NRA Convention.
